Description We are looking for a detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team in San Leandro, California, on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a key part in organizing and maintaining employee records, ensuring compliance with California labor laws, and supporting HR operations for both field and office staff. This position offers an excellent opportunity to streamline processes while contributing to employee onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing HR compliance. Responsibilities: u2022 Audit, digitize, and organize both paper and electronic employee records to ensure seamless access and compliance. u2022 Upload employee documentation into the HR management system and develop standardized file structures for different staff groups. u2022 Monitor and track certifications, licenses, and renewal deadlines for field technicians. u2022 Ensure all employee files are complete with mandatory documents, including job descriptions, offer letters, I-9s, and training records. u2022 Maintain safety compliance logs, chemical handling records, and injury prevention documentation. u2022 Create workflows for incident and near-miss reporting, ensuring clear documentation processes for field crews. u2022 Oversee compliance with California meal and rest break regulations for non-exempt employees. u2022 Support HR processes such as new employee reporting, employee classification reviews, and termination documentation. u2022 Develop and implement standard operating procedures for onboarding, offboarding, incident reporting, and file maintenance. u2022 Train administrative staff on HR system workflows, data management, and compliance protocols. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Human Resources or a related field. u2022 Minimum of 4 yearsu2019 experience in HR systems, HR operations, or compliance roles. u2022 Strong knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, paid sick leave, and compliance reporting. u2022 Familiarity with federal and state guidelines for I-9 documentation and storage. u2022 Proven ability to track licenses, certifications, and renewal schedules effectively. u2022 Experience writing SOPs and training staff on HR systems and workflows. u2022 Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve documentation gaps. u2022 Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with field managers, dispatchers, and administrative teams.
