Job Description

Job Title: Solderer Assembler Job Description The Solderer Assembler will solder precision electro-mechanical equipment, wiring harnesses, and PCB board assemblies used in computers, electronic instruments, and related electronic systems. This role requires careful interpretation of blueprints, diagrams, and detailed specifications to perform high-quality soldering, assembly, testing, and repair work with a strong focus on precision and attention to detail. Responsibilities + Solder precision electro-mechanical equipment, wiring harnesses, and PCB board assemblies used in computers, electronic instruments, and similar electronic systems. + Prepare and join workpieces by applying solder along adjoining edges to create strong, reliable solder joints using soldering irons, gas torches, or electric-ultrasonic equipment. + Grind, cut, buff, or bend edges of workpieces to be joined to ensure a snug and accurate fit, using power grinders and hand tools. + Remove workpieces from molten solder and hold parts together until the solder sets, monitoring color and appearance to confirm proper bonding. + Clean workpieces before and after soldering using chemical solutions, files, wire brushes, or grinders to ensure proper adhesion and finish. + Clean and maintain soldering iron tips using appropriate chemical solutions or cleaning compounds to ensure consistent solder quality. + Rework and repair misaligned or damaged assemblies by heating and separating soldered joints using soldering equipment, then realigning and reassembling components. + Provide assembly, test, and repair assistance as required to support production and maintenance activities. + Follow blueprints, diagrams, verbal instructions, and written procedures throughout the soldering, assembly, testing, and repair process. + Interpret detailed specifications and instructions with a high degree of precision and attention to detail to ensure assemblies meet quality and performance standards. + Read and interpret PCB board schematics and wiring drawings to correctly place, connect, and solder components. + Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, handheld drills, and crimping tools to assemble and secure components and wiring. + Perform heavy lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, both assisted and unassisted, as needed to handle equipment, materials, and assemblies. Essential Skills + Hands-on experience with soldering precision electro-mechanical equipment, wiring harnesses, and PCB board assemblies. + Proficiency in through-hole and surface mount (SMT) soldering techniques. + Strong electronic assembly skills, including working with electronic components, wiring, and PCB boards. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and PCB schematics. + Mechanical assembly skills using hand tools such as screwdrivers, handheld drills, and crimping tools. + High level of attention to detail and precision when following detailed specifications and instructions. + Ability to perform rework and repair on misaligned or damaged soldered assemblies. + Capability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, assisted and unassisted. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Certifications in soldering or electronic assembly are preferable but not required. + Experience with surface mount technology (SMT) assembly is beneficial. + Familiarity with electronic systems used in computers and electronic instruments. + Comfort working with chemical cleaning solutions and cleaning compounds in accordance with safety guidelines. Work Environment This position is based in a climate-controlled facility designed to support precision electronic and electro-mechanical assembly work. You will regularly use soldering irons, gas torches, electric-ultrasonic soldering equipment, power grinders, handheld drills, crimping tools, and various hand tools. Work involves handling PCB boards, wiring harnesses, and electronic components, as well as working with chemical cleaning solutions and compounds following safety practices. The environment supports standing and manual work, including lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, both assisted and unassisted. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ashburn, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
