Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and manage the finance and accounting operations for a dynamic service organization based in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role involves overseeing a team of seven professionals and ensuring the accurate preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise in accounting processes, and a deep understanding of financial management within the travel and tourism industry. Responsibilities: u2022 Supervise and mentor a team of seven finance and accounting professionals, including three direct reports, ensuring high performance and collaboration. u2022 Oversee the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. u2022 Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting. u2022 Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts to support strategic decision-making. u2022 Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and lead the preparation for annual internal audits. u2022 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business structures and support intercompany financial transactions. u2022 Utilize in-house accounting systems and tools, ensuring efficient financial operations and reporting. u2022 Provide guidance and oversight of journal entries, general ledger management, and financial reconciliations. u2022 Support the General Manager and other stakeholders with financial analysis and insights to drive business growth. u2022 Maintain a deep understanding of the travel and tourism industry to align financial operations with business objectives. Requirements u2022 A minimum of 7 years of experience in finance and accounting, preferably within the travel and tourism industry. u2022 At least 5 years of experience managing and leading a finance or accounting team. u2022 Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including consolidated reports. u2022 Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software, including in-house systems and tools similar to QuickBooks or Sabre. u2022 Ability to navigate complex business structures and intercompany financial transactions. u2022 Fluency in Japanese is preferred to facilitate communication with key stakeholders. u2022 Exceptional leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
