Job Description

The Well Construction Fluids Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable technical support to key stakeholders. The Well Construction Fluids Laboratory Technician identifies opportunities to improve fluid design, new products, or improve quality of laboratory operations. This person performs quality assurance tests on company products, prepares laboratory reports for internal stakeholders, and provides advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design for well integrity. The Well Construction Fluids Laboratory Technician maintains contact with the operations management, sales, operating locations, product centers and the InTouch repository. Additional Responsibilities u00b7 Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time. u00b7 Perform laboratory tests adhering to API, ASTM, or SLB recommended practices. u00b7 Ensure that laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed. u00b7 Develop the competency level required to perform advanced additive selection to optimized and troubleshoot fluidu2019s technical performance. u00b7 Evaluate and develop new chemistries or alternative suppliers of existing chemistries for use in well construction fluids. u00b7 Collaborate or mentor peers to share knowledge or experience aimed at improving efficiency or quality of laboratory operations. u00b7 Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers. u00b7 Perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards. u00b7 Assist the sales, supply chain, operating locations, and operational teams with technical support as required. u00b7 Perform risk analysis before each task or job to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns. u00b7 Participate in Service Quality Meetings with internal stakeholders to improve performance using action plans. u00b7 Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives. u00b7 Wear PPE and observe HSE policies. u00b7 Maintain the required safety training. Bacheloru2019s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience working in a laboratory setting with cementing fluids. Candidates with a background in construction materials or oilfield fluids are welcome. Experience in oilfield fluids product development is highly desirable. Previous experience working with or for chemical suppliers is a plus.
