_Job Summary_ The Manager, Software Asset Management (SAM) is a people leader responsible for expanding and optimizing Cardinal Healthu2019s enterprise software portfolio to maximize value, minimize risk, and enable data-driven decision making. This role leads the growth and maturity of the SAM program by onboarding top-tier suppliers and licensed products, advancing Flexera One as the enterprise system of insight, developing SAM talent, and accelerating automation across the software lifecycle. The role partners closely with IT, Finance, FinOps, Procurement, Cloud, Security, Legal, and strategic vendors to deliver measurable cost optimization, compliance assurance, and value realization. _Responsibilities_ u2022 Leads enterprise software license growth within the SAM processes by prioritizing top-tier suppliers and high-value licensed products. u2022 Owns Software Asset Management outcomes across on-prem, SaaS, and cloud environments. u2022 Proactively manages software compliance, audit readiness, and financial risk across the enterprise. u2022 Solution Owner of software license renewal portfolio and operational process management (Follow-the-Renewal). u2022 Leads, develops, and mentors SAM team members, establishing clear performance expectations and development plans. u2022 Serves as a core strategic partner in the software strategy council, works effectively in cross collaboration efforts involving Indirect Procurement, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Repairs and Maintenance. u2022 Owns strategic partnerships with Flexera, external consulting partners, and top-tier software suppliers, holding partners accountable to outcomes and KPIs. u2022 Matures Flexera One capabilities, ensuring trusted data, effective license positions, and actionable insights. u2022 Partners with IT teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive them to completion. u2022 Works closely with the Flexera One Product Owner to oversee performance, agent upgrades, and inventory processes are working as designed. u2022 Spearheads and facilitates quarterly business reviews with internal and external partners (Flexera). u2022 Drives automation across the software lifecycle, including contract ingestion, entitlement management, usage analysis, harvesting, and reporting. u2022 Defines, develops, socializes, and maintains SAM and FinOps-aligned KPIs measuring value realization, cost optimization, compliance, automation, and portfolio coverage. u2022 Provides SAM expertise to FinOps team supporting cloud cost optimization, forecasting accuracy. _Qualifications_ u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred. u2022 8+ years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management preferred. u2022 Demonstrated people leadership experience with accountability for outcomes and performance preferred. u2022 Hands-on experience maturing Flexera One or comparable SAM platforms at enterprise scale preferred. u2022 Proven experience defining and managing KPIs and translating insights into business action preferred. u2022 Strong cross-functional influence and stakeholder management skills preferred. u2022 Effective communicator, skilled in presenting and tailoring messages to the audience preferred. u2022 Experience partnering with external consulting partners or other SAM managed service providers preferred. u2022 Experience leading automation or data-driven transformation initiatives preferred. u2022 ITAM, SAM, or FinOps certifications preferred. _What is expected of you and others at this level_ + Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, front line supervisors and/or business support staff + Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals + Ensures employees operate within guidelines + Decisions have a short term impact on work processes, outcomes and customers + Interacts with subordinates, peers, customers, and suppliers at various management levels; may interact with senior management + Interactions normally involve resolution of issues related to operations and/or projects + Gains consensus from various parties involved Anticipated salary range: $105,100 - $165,110 Bonus eligible: Yes Benefits: Cardinal Health offers a wide variety of benefits and programs to support health and well-being. + Medical, dental and vision coverage + Paid time off plan + Health savings account (HSA) + 401k savings plan + Access to wages before pay day with myFlexPay + Flexible spending accounts (FSAs) + Short- and long-term disability coverage + Work-Life resources + Paid parental leave + Healthy lifestyle programs Application window anticipated to close: 6/10/2026 if interested in opportunity, please submit application as soon as possible.
