Applicants are required to be eligiblefor employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet therequirement of being a U.S. Citizen.Job SummaryUnder direct supervision, trains and coordinates students in theperformance of daily laboratory activities covering a variety oftechnical support services and project implementation tasks. Reviews,tests, repairs, maintains and modifies research and facilities equipmentand systems.Essential FunctionsAssists in management, maintenance and monitoring of facilities,equipment, and systems as required to support building operation anddaily research activities, ensuring adherence to process standards andestablished practice. May recommend updates, as appropriate. Undergeneral supervision, trains and advises staff, contractors and studentsin experimental design, product and material selection, researchequipment capacity and utilization, and tool operation and processes.Reviews, establishes and maintains a broad knowledge of laboratoryprocedures, state-of-the-art research techniques, technology, equipmentand systems related research. May fabricate prototypes and other devicesrelated to research using various tools (physical and/or digital);modifies existing equipment and devices to meet changing researchrequirements.Required Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentThree (3) years of experience in a research laboratory or related field.Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) yearof experience.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to initiate work as a self-starter and to prioritize with timemanagement skillsDemonstrated ability with attention to detail and analytical aptitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and as team player; work in an environmentthat builds people, engages the community, and provides customersatisfactionPhysical RequirementsAbility to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs. Ability to use tools, equipment, andtechnology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity ininstrument manipulation.
