We're in search of a Maintenance Technician II who is ready to embark on a remarkable journey and is dependable, knowledgeable, self-motivated, resourceful and likes to travel.Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) stands as a unique electric generation and distribution cooperative, serving 59 communities across Alaska. Our operation spans 46 small, isolated grids relying on a mix of diesel, wind, and solar generation to power 11,513 meters and maintain 515 miles of distribution line.As a Maintenance Technician II at AVEC you'll play a pivotal role in the member-driven service we provide. The work of a Maintenance Technician involves organizing, directing, and performing construction tasks necessary to supply electrical energy to these remote villages via diesel generation and distribution systems. Each day will present new challenges and opportunities, allowing you to engage in diverse tasks such as major overhauls, repairs, preventive maintenance, and improvising temporary replacements. While traveling to our different communities, Maintenance Technicians instruct Power Plant Operators in equipment use, safe practices, and maintenance during field operations. As part of the traveling field staff, you are the ones that our Members see so there is much value to maintaining good relations with the member-owners and village councils and building their understanding and confidence in AVEC's value, mission and goals.The Maintenance Technician II position will travel approximately 80% of the year.
