Job Title: Machinist Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. You will work with CNC equipment to machine, inspect, and deburr parts while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards such as AS9100 and ISO9001. The position offers a Monday through Thursday daytime schedule with opportunities for overtime. Responsibilities + Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine parts according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. + Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine project requirements, seeking clarification from leadership when requirements are not fully understood. + Select and install appropriate tooling to achieve required tolerances and surface finishes. + Machine parts to precise dimensions, ensuring parts meet all specified requirements. + Deburr and clean machined parts upon completion to ensure they are ready for inspection or next operation. + Identify and report non-conforming products to the Quality Department immediately upon discovery for proper disposition. + Strive to achieve and maintain expected goals for set-up time and cycle time on all assigned jobs. + Record actual set-up and cycle times on job travelers or in scheduling software accurately and promptly. + Follow established work instructions and routers for each job to ensure consistent and repeatable processes. + Maintain compliance with the Quality Management System and applicable AS9100/ISO9001 standards in all machining activities. + Monitor equipment condition and performance, reporting any equipment, parts, or inventory problems in a timely manner. + Perform basic maintenance and adjustments on CNC equipment as needed to maintain safe and efficient operation. + Work collaboratively with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2 years of production machining experience. + Hands-on experience with CNC lathe set-up and operation. + Proficient use of CNC equipment, including settings, adjustments, and basic maintenance. + Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints accurately. + Knowledge of CNC terminology and machining processes. + Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) definitions and the ability to apply them in machining operations. + Ability to follow detailed work instructions and routers. + Ability to program at the machine panel or use CAM software for part programming. + Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts. + Ability to document set-up and cycle times clearly and accurately. Work Environment The role follows a Monday through Thursday schedule from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with opportunities for overtime as needed. You will work around active machinery, tooling, and metal components, following all safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
