Job Description

Job Overview The Yardhorse Operator move loaded and unloaded trailers from the yard trailer parking area to the dock and returns to the trailer parking area using the yardhorse in a safe manner. Job Responsibilities u2022 Seal trailers upon exiting of dock door. u2022 Inspect yardhorse equipment and all trailers daily and reports unsafe conditions to manager. u2022 Maintain a safe yard area when parking trailers in respect to distance and staging requirements. u2022 Assist in the communication with outside carrieru2019s drivers, including breaking of seals. u2022 Oversee the pre-loaded trailers in regard to unit operation. u2022 Keep daily trailer inventory records (yard check). u2022 Ensure that reefer units are filled with fuel when required. u2022 Productive use of down time. u2022 Ability to complete warehouse functions/tasks. u2022 Perform daily perimeter checks for security; plant doors, suspicious vehicles/activities, report to manager. u2022 All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures. u2022 All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program. u2022 Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager/Lead. Required Education and Experience u2022 High School diploma or GED. u2022 Basic product knowledge of raw/finished goods materials. u2022 Understanding of shipping and receiving processes and related equipment. u2022 Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices. Preferred Education and Experience u2022 Possession of CDL is helpful. u2022 Prior yardhorse or tractor trailer experience. u2022 Lift truck experience. u2022 Experience in the use of a bar code driven (RF) operation. Working Conditions u2022 Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands. u2022 Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying. u2022 Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required. u2022 Product weight: up to 100 lbs u2022 Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F. u2022 Use of motor skills to safely drive tow motors or other motorized vehicles in tight quarters.
