Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our data center operations team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in electrical systems, with a deep understanding of power distribution, electrical equipment, and energy management within critical infrastructure environments, particularly data centers. As the technical leader, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operations, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical systems to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operations across our facilities. You will play a key role in supporting the daily operations and future growth of our data center infrastructure while managing external vendors and ensuring the highest standards of performance, reliability, and compliance. Key Responsibilities: u00b7 Electrical Systems Expertise: Provide expert guidance on electrical systems, power distribution, and energy management within data center environments. Be the go-to authority for troubleshooting, optimization, and integration of electrical infrastructure. u00b7 Maintenance & Operations: Oversee the maintenance, operation, and continuous improvement of electrical systems within the data center. Ensure proper functioning of electrical equipment, including power distribution systems, UPS (uninterruptible power supplies), backup generators, and electrical panels, through regular inspections and preventive maintenance schedules. u00b7 Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors responsible for electrical equipment, systems, and services. Coordinate vendor activities, ensuring that service contracts, performance metrics, and SLAs are met. Review and approve vendor work, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. u00b7 Operational Support & Troubleshooting: Provide 24/7 operational support for electrical systems, responding to performance, safety, and reliability issues. Diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions, outages, or anomalies swiftly to minimize downtime and operational impact. u00b7 System Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor the performance of electrical systems across the data center. Implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure systems are running at peak performance. Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. u00b7 Compliance & Standards: Ensure electrical systems comply with industry standards, local building codes, and best practices. Maintain up-to-date documentation on electrical system configurations, maintenance activities, and any changes made to the systems. u00b7 Training & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians on electrical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices for maintenance and operations. Lead training sessions on safety protocols, new technologies, and system updates. u00b7 Innovation & Research: Stay current with advancements in electrical systems, power management technologies, and data center industry trends. Recommend and implement innovations to improve system performance, efficiency, and reliability. Qualifications: u00b7 Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. u00b7 Experience: o 8+ years of hands-on experience in maintaining and operating electrical systems in data centers, industrial facilities, or similar critical infrastructure environments. o Strong background in power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, and electrical safety systems. o Proven experience with electrical troubleshooting, maintenance planning, system integration, and fault diagnostics. o Demonstrated experience managing relationships with external vendors and service providers. u00b7 Technical Skills: o Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems, circuit breakers, transformers, and related equipment. o Expertise in electrical system operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault diagnostics. o Familiarity with SCADA systems, energy management systems (EMS), and electrical control platforms. o Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices in data centers. o Understanding of electrical codes, standards (NEC, IEC), and regulatory compliance requirements. u00b7 Soft Skills: o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think critically under pressure. o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and vendors. o Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. o Leadership and mentoring abilities to guide and develop junior team members.
