JOB DESCRIPTIONWe are looking for a skilled and passionate Program Director, South to join our diverse and inclusive team. For this position, you will manage GCs program implementation, partnership development, monitoring program quality assurance, and regional expansion. The person in this role will lead a regional programmatic team to implement the core community-based civics curriculum and additional programmatic offerings delivered within the region. The Program Director will steward school and district partnerships, including recruitment and building capacity among districts and teachers to sustain this work on an ongoing basis. They will report directly to the South Executive Director and work closely with the Program and Impact Team and program team members across the organization. The South Region Program Director thrives in managing equitable and collaborative teams and building partnerships across schools, districts, and the broader community. They are a self-starter and a constant and collaborative learner. This position works primarily remotely but will be expected to travel, including participating in limited overnight travel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Sales & Partnership Development (30%)Meet school and district partnership recruitment and retention goals in alignment with GCs strategic plan, including securing Fee For Service district contracts.Steward district and school relationships through a partnership arc that leads to the long-term sustainability of programming beyond GCs direct support model.Manage and maintain South Region Salesforce data, including all data entry, for school partnerships, conference events, and network connections. Program Management & Quality Improvement (30%)Oversee regional team members supporting the South Region program implementation in delivering high-quality programming, ensuring program goals and quality metrics are met.Collaborate with the Program and Impact Team to utilize systems for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on programmatic data, and keep stakeholders informed about program progress and forecasting.Lead regional program team in Civics Day showcase execution, including supporting partner teachers and schools in Civics Day engagement.Plan and facilitate regional program team meetings, retreats, and step-backs to support staff learning, collaboration, and goal execution.Lead coordination of all aspects of nationally developed teacher professional development institutes, including planning, logistics, and facilitation.Manage a small teacher caseload as needed. Program Strategy (20%)Set annual programmatic goals and ensure progress toward annual goals in close collaboration with the Program and Impact Team and the South team.Work with the South Executive Director and finance team to strategically build Souths annual program budget, manage the budget, and oversee the programmatic team to ensure sustainable use of programmatic funds in the South region. Development (15%)Work closely with the South Executive Director and National Development Team to ensure adequate philanthropic support in addition to Fee for Service to make the program financially sustainable. This includes partnering to support the development of strong funder relationships, grant writing, and reporting. Civic Voice & Policy (5%)Partner with the South Executive Director and the Civic Voice & Policy team to develop an approach to policy and advocacy in the region.Support in the execution of the regions policy goals, including driving campaigns as appropriate.Collaborate on expanding regional policy efforts and increasing uptake of Civics Seal, where viting elected officials to Civics Day events.Accompanying elected officials to school visits. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS5+ years of nonprofit or education experience, with 3+ years of partnership recruitment and development experienceExperience working with middle or high school students, educators, and administrators, and familiarity with the language of education standards, curricular development, and school priorities.Experience managing a diverse team of people with varying degrees of seniority.A self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguity and project manage multiple streams of work simultaneouslyComply with local, federal, and site-based COVID-19 vaccination requirementsReliable transportation and flexibility to regularly travel within the South region and beyond.Preferred: 3+ years in a classroom or adult learning settingPreferred: Experience with data-informed evaluation to enhance program scalability and ensure alignment with key organizational priorities. NOTEThis position works primarily remotely but will be expected to travel no more than 20% to attend monthly in-person team days, organizational retreats, special events, external partner meetings, conferences, lobbying, and other potential in-person activities. Required in-person opportunities include, but are not limited to, annual staff retreats, funder meetings, school visits, and region-based Civics Day events. Roles on the National team extend throughout the country, causing a wider salary range due to geographic variation, versus regional roles that have a set salary. The salary for this role is $87,444.
