Job Description: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Contract) Job Type: Contract Position Urgency: Normal Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: 6 12-hour shifts (72 hours in a 2-week period), every 3rd weekend off Specialty: Nursing Sub-Specialty: Emergency Room Nurse Setting: Critical Access Hospital ER, Acute, and Long-Term Care Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience License Requirement: Active state RN license required by start date Certifications: BLS/BCLS EMR: EPIC Holiday Coverage: Required Hours: Not guaranteed Position Summary A versatile and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a contract role in a critical access hospital setting. This facility operates without separate units, requiring nurses to provide comprehensive coverage across ER, acute care, and long-term care. The ideal candidate is adaptable, confident in working independently, and capable of managing a broad range of patient acuity levels. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care across ER, acute, and long-term care areas. Respond to emergency situations, deliver trauma and medical stabilization, and manage acute conditions. Float between departments as needed, depending on patient volume. When assigned to medication duties, administer medications and perform procedures for both acute and LTC patients. Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the EPIC EMR system. Adhere to established clinical protocols and safety standards. Work scheduled 12-hour shifts, including required holiday coverage. Support patient flow and coordination within a small critical access environment. Qualifications Active and unrestricted RN license (must be obtained prior to assignment start). Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience is required. BLS/BCLS certification. Strong clinical judgment and ability to work in a small, resource-limited hospital setting. Flexibility to cover multiple care areas based on staffing and patient needs. Ability to work 12-hour shift patterns with rotating weekends. Schedule Information 6 12-hour shifts every two weeks (72 hours total). Every 3rd weekend off. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary based on census. Additional Requirements Candidates may need to arrive prior to assignment start to complete pre-employment health appointments. Must be able to work in a facility that is not latex-free. Must be comfortable providing cross-coverage in all care areas.
