Some of what you'll be doing: This is a full-time summer graduate intern position. In this role, you will support the Aviation Finance and Budget department with various budgeting, reporting, and capital development projects for the Aviation Division. Finance & Budget Support + Contribute to budget development, forecasting cycles, and variance analysis + Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial inputs and explain results + Support capital planning and grants administration + Assist in documenting business processes and recommending best practices Data Analytics & Visualization + Develop dashboards and reports to support financial decision-making (e.g., budget vs. actuals, forecasts, key performance indicators) + Use data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel) to present insights clearly and effectively + Perform data validation and ensure integrity across financial systems Process Improvement + Analyze current budgeting and forecasting processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation + Support the development of streamlined workflows and standardized financial procedures + Explore and pilot automation tools (e.g., Python, RPA, advanced Excel) to reduce manual processes Who you are: + A student u2013 You must be currently enrolled in a Masteru2019s degree program or a recent graduate ( + Committed to Equity u2013 You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013 Your normal work schedule will be Monday u2013 Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. + Work Environment u2013 Hybrid work environment with at least two days per week in an office environment as needed to meet business and operational needs. + Limited Duration u2013 This is a limited-duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months. + Security Requirements u2013 As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
