Job Description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide specialized patient care within a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital setting focused on medical-surgical and telemetry nursing. This role involves managing an array of complex post-op and acute/chronic conditions with autonomy and teamwork in a 23-bed unit. Key Responsibilities: Deliver skilled nursing care to patients with diverse diagnoses including joint replacements, bariatric, and spinal surgeries, as well as cardiac drip management and wound care. Perform clinical procedures such as trach care, chest tube management, IV insertion, central line care, and telemetry monitoring. Use strong assessment skills to monitor patient status and coordinate care plans with interdisciplinary teams. Implement discharge planning and provide education with emphasis on renal and fluid management. Adhere to unit protocols including use of EMR (Epic), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and telemetry systems. Maintain effective communication with support staff including CNAs, unit secretaries, and resource nurses. Participate in a rotating weekend schedule and work assigned holiday shifts on a 12-hour shift schedule (7A-7P or 7P-7A) on a six-week cycle. Qualifications & Desired Experience: Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience. BLS certification required; ACLS preferred. Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency required (EKG exam as part of compliance). Preferred but not mandatory: Medical-Surgical or Nephrology nursing certification. Proficiency in trach care, cardiac monitoring, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drip management. Strong clinical judgment in a Level 1 trauma hospital setting.
