Summary The Clarksburg VA Medical Center, also known as the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center (LAJVAMC), is dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of Veterans in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and the surrounding area. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until June 26, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be February 17, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. Major Duties/Responsibilities Perform general cardiology clinical care, including in-patient consultation, out-patient consultation and out-patient clinic. Perform echocardiography, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, Holter monitor an electrocardiogram interpretation, diagnosis and management of arrhythmias. Takes an active role in the evaluation of the patient, decision for treatment/care, and documentation in the patient electronic records. Serves on service level and/or hospital committees as needed and participate in the facility peer review program. Maintains professional competency, courtesy and flexibility or provide the necessary services of this specialty. Possess strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills with a commitment to academics. Maintains a record of successful practice management and excellent clinical skills. All other duties assigned based on the needs of the Medical Facility. Work Schedule: 8am-4:30pm; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR [(2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA),OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences.
