Job Description This role supports day-to-day accounting and operational activities and will play a key part in transitioning accounting functions fully in-house. While not currently an accounting-heavy position, it is expected to grow into one over the next 12u201318 months as reliance on an external accounting service is phased out. Responsibilities + Prepare monthly financial reports, break down results, and present summaries to the Board of Directors. + Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including approximately 4u20135 weekly transactions through in-house checking accounts. + Manage petty cash and oversee the use of check scanners. + Process deposits and serve as the liaison between the organization and the external accounting service during the transition period. + Pull financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements. + Maintain and support general ledger activity and journal entries. + Perform high-volume multitasking and handle frequent phone communication. Essential Skills + 3-5+ years of experience in general ledger, QuickBooks, invoicing, journal entry, accounts payable. + Proficient in QuickBooks. + Ability to pull and interpret financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements. + Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Working knowledge of General Ledger and journal entries. + Comfortable working in a transitioning environment and taking on increasing responsibility over time. + Strong phone presence and customer service skills are essential. Work Environment The position is onsite at the congregation. It offers a flexible environment with benefits such as school holidays off, Jewish holidays off, and flexibility with family leave. The working hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Herndon, VA.
