This role handles complex assignments with a high degree of independence, applies strong professional judgment, and proactively identifies risks, efficiencies, and solutions.In addition to delivering high-quality project accounting support, the Temporary Project Accountant contributes to improving financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system utilization across the team.This position is remote, with the option to work from one of our local offices.This position is a temporary position with variable hours and is expected to have a 6-month duration. Temporary employees are those employed for short-term assignments. Schedules will vary from week to week based on project requirements. Position is not eligible for company benefits except as required by applicable law.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Accounting and Client SupportBuild strong relationships and serve as a trusted advisor to Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle, from notice of award through final closeoutSet up and maintain projects in Deltek Vantagepoint in accordance with contract requirements; read and interpret contracts for accounting, billing, and invoicing implications.Prepare and distribute monthly billing reports to Project Managers; process labor and expense transfers as needed and ensure costs comply with contract terms.Ensure accurate and complete invoice packages are submitted to clients in a timely manner, including all required supporting documentation.Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries; investigate issues, problem-solve, and clearly communicate resolutions.Follow up with clients to confirm invoice receipt and payment status; partner with Project Managers to resolve collection issues.Monitor project work-in-progress (WIP) and review monthly aged WIP reports with Project Managers; collaborate to resolve aging or compliance issues.Systems and Reporting SupportServe as a subject matter resource for Deltek Vantagepoint project accounting and billing functions.Support accurate project financial reporting by maintaining data accuracy and consistency within financial systems.Provide guidance to Project Managers and project accounting team members on billing procedures, financial system usage, and project accounting best practices.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experienceMinimum of 6 years of project accounting experience within a professional services firmExperience with Deltek Vision and or Deltek Vantagepoint.Demonstrated experience with project accounting, financial tracking, and revenue recognition in an AEC consulting firm.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and nested formulasStrong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone, video conference, and written correspondenceHighly organized with exceptional attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage competing prioritiesStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsCollaborative, team-oriented mindsetMust possess a valid driver’s license and active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employmentPreferred QualificationsStrong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insightsAbility to work overtime during peak billing or audit cyclesCompensation: $50.00 hourly**Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
