About the Role Wells Fargo is seeking a handsu2011on Specialty Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of lowu2011latency electronic trading platforms within our Capital Markets technology organization. This role is responsible for managing highly specialized engineering teams building performanceu2011critical trading systems at global scale. Success in this position requires a leader who combines people leadership with deep, ongoing technical contributionu2014someone who remains close to the code, architecture, and runtime behavior of lowu2011latency systems. While this is a management role, it is explicitly not a handsu2011off position. You will stay actively involved in system design, code reviews, complex problem solving, and key implementation decisions, partnering closely with product managers, architects, traders, and senior technology leaders to deliver resilient, compliant, and highu2011throughput platforms. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: + Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, while remaining personally engaged in critical technical decisions and implementation details + Provide direct handsu2011on technical leadership for lowu2011latency, highu2011throughput electronic trading platforms, ensuring delivery of highu2011quality, resilient, and performant solutions + Stay actively involved in architecture definition, design reviews, and selected code paths, particularly in latencyu2011sensitive, complex, or highu2011risk areas + Ensure consistent adherence to Wells Fargo Banking Platform Architecture, nonu2011functional requirements, and enterprise engineering standardsu2014while pragmatically balancing performance and delivery needs + Partner with architects and senior engineers to evolve systems toward targetu2011state architectures, including application modernization, cloud readiness, and data strategy, with direct technical oversight + Serve as the technical and delivery owner for the product during crossu2011team planning, dependency management, and execution + Identify, escalate, and personally help drive resolution of complex technology challenges, including performance bottlenecks, concurrency issues, build and deployment failures, and operational risk + Act as an escalation point for scrum masters and delivery teams, removing impediments through technical intervention as well as organizational influence + Conduct deep design reviews, code reviews, and postu2011incident analysis, guiding engineers on performance tuning, correctness, and maintainability + Ensure systems meet enterprise standards for security, stability, scalability, resilience, and regulatory compliance, proactively identifying and mitigating both technical and operational risk + Partner closely with Product Managers and Product Owners to influence technology priorities and solution design, while advocating practical Agile and DevOps practices suited for lowu2011latency environments + Manage interactions with thirdu2011party vendors and service providers, ensuring technical alignment and integration quality + Own resource and financial planning, balancing handsu2011on technical needs with longeru2011term delivery and staffing strategy + Hire, retain, and develop topu2011tier engineering talent; model strong engineering behavior and build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning + Define and govern the handsu2011on use of AIu2011assisted and LLMu2011based engineering capabilities (e.g., promptu2011driven development, test generation, diagnostics, documentation), ensuring tangible productivity gains without compromising quality or control + Architect and guide enterpriseu2011grade LLM integrations, including MCPu2011based services, remaining personally involved in design decisions to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo security, risk, and regulatory standards Required Qualifications: + 7+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education + 3+ years of management or leadership experience + 3+ years of engineering management experience, with a clear record of remaining handsu2011on in technical delivery + 3+ years of experience in the securities or capital markets industry Desired Qualifications: + Advanced understanding of capital markets business processes and the electronic trading lifecycle + Handsu2011on experience building and operating lowu2011latency, highu2011throughput transactional systems + Strong command of core computer science fundamentals, including system design, algorithms, concurrency, and data structures + Familiarity with statistical or mathematical models relevant to trading or market data + Working knowledge of SEC, FINRA, and relevant international regulatory requirements + Strong track record leading delivery of complex, distributed, lowu2011latency systems with moderate to high business and technology risk + Demonstrated ability to partner with product, architecture, and business stakeholders while still owning deep technical outcomes + Direct experience designing and implementing APIs for Order Management, Straightu2011Through Processing, and market data connectivity + Experience delivering global electronic trading platforms, including nonu2011USD or emergingu2011market products (e.g., LATAM currencies) + Handsu2011on experience implementing automated testing, CI/CD, and zerou2011touch release pipelines in performanceu2011critical environments + Experience leading globally distributed teams in a matrix organization + Practical experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) in enterprise environments with an emphasis on governance and traceability + Familiarity with agentic AI workflows and MCPu2011based SDLC patterns is a strong plus + FINRA Series 7 and/or Series 63 licenses are a plus Location: + New York, NY u2013 150 E 42nd St + Charlotte, NC u2013 300 S Brevard St This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the office at one of the listed locations. Pay Range Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location.
