Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer (Intermediate Level)Overview We are seeking an experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer to support the design, engineering, and construction oversight of plumbing and fire protection systems across commercial, institutional, industrial, and government projects. This individual will collaborate closely with internal engineering disciplines, architects, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs. Key Responsibilities + Design, engineer, and oversee the installation of plumbing and fire protection systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards + Conduct field surveys and system assessments of existing plumbing and fire protection infrastructure + Prepare construction documents including technical specifications, new work and demolition plans, riser diagrams, schedules, and details + Perform design calculations to verify system performance and accuracy + Use AutoCAD and Revit to design systems and set up new projects for the team + Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle + Review budgets and schedules and recommend cost-effective and feasible alternatives + Conduct on-site inspections and provide construction administration support, including punch-list and field observations + Work with vendors on equipment selection and specifications + Prepare reports and presentations for internal leadership and clients + Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers + Stay current on industry technologies, trends, and best practices + Travel as required for site visits, surveys, and construction support Required Skills & Experience + Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD + Strong experience in plumbing design and fire protection systems + Understanding of construction documents, particularly MEP/FP drawings and specifications + Knowledge of building systems integration (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection) + Experience with Bluebeam + Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment + Demonstrated leadership ability and interest in mentoring junior staff + High attention to detail and accuracy Education & Qualifications + Bacheloru2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered) + 5u20137 years of professional engineering experience + Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Warwick, RI.
