JOB REQUIREMENTS: Responsibilities Surgical recovery of tissue fromdonors in hospital operating rooms, Medical Examiner/Coroner offices,and funeral homes. Acquires donated placentas and umbilical cords fortransplant and research following Versiti Organ and Tissue proceduresand protocols. Coordinates maintenance and cleaning of instruments andequipment to ensure appropriate quality assurance standards are met.Maintains inventory of supplies essential for recovery and acquisitionof tissue. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships withhospital, Medical Examiner/Coroner, and funeral home staff to maximizedonation opportunities and promote organ and tissue donation awareness.May precept new TRS staff in conjunction with primary preceptor.Coordinates and/or participates in various donation related communityactivities/events as assigned. Maintains competence through attendanceat mandatory and other job-related educational opportunities. Activelyparticipates in Lean and continuous improvement activities. Followsapplicable laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures thatimpact specific job responsibilities and functions and performs assignedjob functions in accordance with them to include those set forth by AATB(American Association of Tissue Banks), FDA (Food and DrugAdministration), AORN (The Association of Perioperative RegisteredNurses), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and JCAHO(Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonablywithin the scope of the duties in this job classification Understandsand performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliancerequirements Complies with all standard operating policies andprocedures OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree degree from an accreditedcollege or university in a related healthcare field required Associatesdegree in related healthcare field plus an additional 3-5yrs experiencemay be substituted for the degree with the approval of Tissue BankManagement and Human Resources in lieu of required degree SurgicalTechnologist, Surgical Assistant, Circulating Nurse or similarcertification may be substituted for the degree with the approval ofTissue Bank Management and Human Resources in lieu of required degreeExperience 1-3 years of operating room and/or patient care experience asa Surgical Technologist, Surgical Assistant, Circulating Nurse orsimilar position preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability touse a personal computer, Microsoft Office and the internet for dataentry and retrieval of information. required Strong attention to detailand ensures accuracy in completing paperwork. required Ability toorganize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task inchallenging and stressful situations, and utilizing conflict management.required Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication andrapport-building skills including the ability to listen actively andrespond with empathy, tact, and sensitivity. required Ability to applyjudgment and fact finding to solve problems. required Familiarity withsterile technique and venipuncture skills preferred required Knowledgeof basic medical terminology, medications, disease processes and humananatomy. required Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and access to avehicle required Licenses and Certifications American Association ofTissue Banks (AATB) certification within 3 years of hire preferred APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online:Qualified females, minorities, and specialdisabled veterans and other veterans are encouraged to apply.
