Description: The primary purpose of this position is to be the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff as well as provide budget and administrative support to the Chancelloru2019s Office. This position will manage the Chief of Staffu2019s calendar, coordinate assigned special events and draft communications. This position serves as an internal resources on financial matters with responsibilities including budget planning, reconciling expenditures and monitoring accounts as well as purchasing for the office, which requires working with multiple units on campus, dealing with numerous funding sources. This person also serves as support for triaging or responding to parental, student, and community concerns; screening calls and visitors; and greeting guests. This position provides administrative support to Chancellor and Chancelloru2019s Office staff on strategic and operational priorities (Including Board of Trustees meetings, signature events, strategic plan, standing committees). In addition, this position provides records management for the Chancelloru2019s office in compliance with the State of North Carolina records management and university policies. The position must remain flexible on a daily basis due to the unknown nature of calls and visitors to the office and work load depending on the chancelloru2019s calendar. The role of this position is further defined and impacted by the mutual working relationship established by the Chief of Staff. Due to the level of confidentiality of this position, dependability and attention to detail are necessary expectations. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The primary purpose of the Office of the Chancellor is to promote the educational excellence and general development and welfare of the institution by directing the mission and vision of the university. Accordingly, the office staff ensures the administrative needs of the chancellor are met and provides administrative support to the chancellor by assisting with the daily operations of the university and acting as the initial contact for university administrators, faculty, staff and students; and visitors. Requirements: Mid-career professional with bacheloru2019s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and 2 yrs progressively responsible experience administrative/office management experience in higher education.
