Job Description

Job details The Instrumentation and Control Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and managing the sensors, machines, and data acquisition systems used to evaluate product performance, safety, and reliability. Beyond merely gathering numbers, the Instrumentation and Control Engineer will translate complex electrical signals into meaningful repo ... rts that influence critical design decisions and safety protocols. By ensuring every aspect of the process operates at peak precision, they provide the foundation that allows innovation to move from a theoretical concept to a proven, high-performance reality. The Instrumentation and Control Engineer serves as the first point of contact for testing to aid internal and external customers in their testing needs.Responsibilities:Design and develop integrated instrumentation systems for various testing environments (e.g., wind tunnels, crash labs, or manufacturing floors).Select, calibrate, and install sensors such as accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and strain gauges.Configure and maintain DAQ hardware and software (like LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Dewesoft) to ensure high-fidelity data capture.Identify and resolve signal noise, ground loops, or hardware failures that threaten data integrity.Verify that test setups meet industry standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) and internal quality requirements.Work closely with Test Engineers and Product Designers to define measurement requirements and interpret municate with internal and external customers regarding their testing needs.Other duties as needed and assigned.Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMSkills:Technical competence with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GDT).Experience in statistical data analysis software (e.g. Minitab) would be a plus.Proficient in Metallurgy, particularly with high temperature damage, fatigue of austenitic and ferromagnetic materials.Broad background in engineering technical disciplines that include vibration, heat transfer, stress, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and controls.Experience with instrumentation for measuring flow, pressure, temperature, imbalance, rotor motion, vibration, sound, and other measuring instruments.Education:BachelorsExperience:4-7 yearsQualifications:Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, Masters? degree preferred.12 years of experience or equivalent education and experience5 year?s experience with project management.10 year?s experience in automotive product development.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required.Proficient in Solid Modeling (Pro-E preferred), Structural /Thermal Mechanics FEA, Fluid Dynamics FEA, Harmonic Model and Vibration Analysis.
