Job title: Kubernetes Engineer ufeff Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Kubernetes Engineer to support containerization development across three large Navy ship and submarine platforms. These technologies range from commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) based sonar/acoustic systems to submarine subsystems communication systems and specialty sensors. All these systems ensure submarines function properly, allowing them to scan the waters effectively to detect threats, thus keeping our sailors aware and safe. Responsibilities + Perform software integration tasks. + Enable a Linux system to work with a private cloud, ensuring seamless integration. + Conduct testing, debugging of code, and work with containers and orchestrators. + Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes in a Linux OS environment, optimizing system performance, security, and scalability. + Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling and implement interprocess communication within containers. + Optimize GPU performance within containers. Essential Skills + Proven expertise with Kubernetes, Linux, and container integration. + Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go programming languages. + 10+ years of development, integration, and troubleshooting experience with the Linux/Unix Operating System. + Experience with large-scale design and build of Kubernetes containers (500+). + Experience with interfacing multiple modules from several containers. + Deep understanding of dependencies from both API and file-by-file perspectives. + Eligibility for Secret Clearance (must have interim Secret minimum to start). Additional Skills & Qualifications + BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. + Experience with GPU optimization within containers. + Proficiency with RKE2 and KubeVIP. + Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. + Experience with version control systems such as Git. + Understanding of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking. + Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling. + Experience in designing containers to be highly available. Work Environment The position is based at a 2000+ person site in Manassas, VA. The work schedule is flexible, offering options such as 4/10s, 9/80, or a standard 5 days/40-hour week.
