Job Title: Cleanroom Production Operator Job Description The Cleanroom Production Operator works in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment, performing final inspection and quality control for silicon wafer production. This role operates within a climate-controlled cleanroom, follows complex and detailed procedures, and ensures that polished wafers meet strict customer and quality specifications. The position involves 12-hour shifts on a compressed workweek schedule, requires strong attention to detail, and demands consistent adherence to safety, quality, and documentation standards. Responsibilities + Perform final inspection and quality control activities for silicon wafers in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. + Follow complex, detailed procedures and work instructions to process wafers according to specific customer requirements documented in computerized and paper work orders. + Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, ensuring each process step is recorded per specifications. + Operate robotic and automated equipment to load and unload wafers, tools, and other equipment, and respond to and troubleshoot tool alarms as needed. + Conduct daily monitors for each process tool and verify that all monitor data meets process specifications before releasing tools to production. + Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify data and process conditions to ensure they meet quality specifications before moving material to the next process step. + Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas, performing cleaning tasks to meet standards for each manufacturing process. + Handle wafer cassettes and wafers using fine motor skills to avoid contact with cleanroom uniforms, gloves, and mechanical equipment. + Visually inspect finished boxes to ensure there are no pen marks, particles, scratches, smudges, or expired date/time stamps, and confirm wafers are aligned and not cross-indexed. + Visually verify precise alignment of wafers through opaque or clear lids after final inspection and sealing in plastic bags. + Count wafers in each box at load and unload points to ensure counts match quantities stated on work orders and box labels. + When manually placing cassettes on tools, visually verify correct placement on the designated station and in the designated position. + Verify packaging specifications by reviewing computerized work orders and visual guides to ensure proper label placement and packaging accuracy. + Move boxes of wafers between inventory locations, transport carts, and automated process equipment by bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, and reaching as required. + Push, pull, and guide transport carts through doorways and hallways, including carts weighing approximately 20 pounds and occasionally up to approximately 400 pounds. + Stand and remain in motion for long periods within a 12-hour shift while performing production tasks. + Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10u201320 pounds of force frequently to move objects and operate equipment. + Perform repetitive opening and closing of wafer cassettes at waist level at every process step and repetitive hand and wrist movements during packaging and sealing. + Use a computer, keyboard, and monitor to input data into Excel, track and confirm each process, and complete computerized forms accurately. + Use a calculator and other basic office equipment such as a copier, cell phone, and telephone to support production and documentation tasks. + Apply basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of percentages and decimals, using a calculator, Excel, or other methods. + Follow all documented training, procedures, and processes to meet quality standards and prevent variations, errors, or lapses in quality. + Report quality issues promptly, take action to correct them, and support efforts to prevent recurrence. + Identify and communicate suggestions for process or quality improvements to supervisors or appropriate personnel. + Consistently follow safe work practices, prioritize safety over deadlines and other goals, and act as a safety role model for co-workers. + Work safely around hazardous and volatile chemicals and in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, using required personal protective equipment. + Adhere to attendance, advance notice, and call-in policies, recognizing their critical importance in a manufacturing environment. + Work collaboratively in close proximity with team members in shared areas and independently in designated areas as needed. + Maintain the ability to work all hours and shifts on a compressed workweek schedule, including every other weekend and overtime as required. Essential Skills + Ability to work 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for day shift or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for night shift) on a compressed workweek schedule, including alternating 3-on/4-off and 4-on/3-off weeks and every other weekend. + Willingness and availability to work all shifts and overtime as required or requested. + Strong multitasking ability, including monitoring the movement of wafers across multiple tool sets simultaneously. + High attention to detail and accuracy in inspection, documentation, and data entry. + Good time management skills to meet daily production targets in a fast-paced environment. + Basic technical aptitude and comfort using computers, reading computer screens, and entering data. + Ability to use a computer keyboard and monitor to input data into Excel and complete computerized forms. + Experience or proficiency with software such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook or similar applications. + Ability to operate a calculator, copier, cell phone, and telephone. + Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and computation of percentages and decimals. + Ability to communicate effectively in English with management and co-workers, both verbally and in writing. + Ability to read, write, comprehend, and explain instructions, procedures, technical and informational manuals, reports, and correspondence in English. + Physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, lift, and reach to move boxes of wafers and handle materials. + Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10u201320 pounds of force frequently to move objects. + Ability to push and guide carts weighing approximately 20 pounds and occasionally up to approximately 400 pounds. + Ability to stand and remain active for long periods during a 12-hour shift. + Fine motor skills for precise handling of cassettes and wafers without contamination or damage. + Comfort working around hazardous and volatile chemicals while following safety protocols. + Ability to work in close proximity with other team members and independently as required. + Strong focus on safety, with a commitment to putting safety ahead of deadlines and production pressures. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior production or manufacturing experience, especially in semiconductor or cleanroom environments, is a plus but not required. + Experience in quality assurance, inspection, or final quality control is beneficial. + Demonstrated teamwork, organization, and time management skills. + Strong attention to detail and a detail-oriented mindset for processing and inspection tasks. + Ability to maintain composure and accuracy in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. + Comfort learning and rotating through multiple process areas such as automated cleanlines, LPD, visual inspection, lot compiling, packaging, and box wash. + Willingness to cross-train and obtain certifications for multiple process areas within the department. Work Environment The role is based in an indoor, climate-controlled, and well-ventilated cleanroom environment dedicated to silicon wafer manufacturing. Operators wear full cleanroom personal protective equipment, including a hooded full-body cleanroom gown (bunny suit), hairnet and/or beard net, safety glasses, mouth and nose covering, nylon or nitrile gloves, and a chemical apron. Despite air conditioning, the layered PPE can make the environment feel warm, and operators may become hot or sweaty during the shift. Work is performed on 12-hour shifts (day or night) on a compressed workweek schedule, alternating between three days on/four days off and four days on/three days off, which includes working every other weekend and occasional overtime. The position involves standing and walking for long periods, frequent movement of carts and boxes, and repetitive hand and wrist motions. Operators work around hazardous and volatile chemicals and in proximity to moving mechanical parts, following strict safety protocols and cleanroom standards at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
