Job Description

Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer maintains and continuously improves the Quality Management System while leading efforts to ensure product, process, and supplier quality for fabricated sheet metal components. This role manages customer quality issues, supports production teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that reduce scrap, rework, and process inefficiencies. The Quality Engineer also promotes a strong safety and quality culture across the manufacturing floor and collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers. Responsibilities + Maintain, improve, and administer the Quality Management System (QMS), including nonconformance reports (NCR), corrective action requests (CAR), root cause analysis (RCA), 8D problem-solving, engineering change notices (ECN), and internal audit processes. + Manage customer quality issues, complaints, and warranty claims by coordinating timely investigations, performing root cause analysis, and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions. + Develop, track, and report quality metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor product quality, process capability, and supplier performance. + Lead inspection activities for supplier, receiving, in-process, and final inspections, with a focus on fabricated sheet metal components and related assemblies. + Qualify, onboard, and develop suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements, fabrication standards, and continuous improvement expectations. + Support production teams through NCR management, disposition of nonconforming product, and guidance on corrective and preventive actions. + Provide quality-related training and coaching to manufacturing and engineering teams to strengthen understanding of quality standards, processes, and best practices. + Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to address quality issues, improve process capability, and enhance product reliability. + Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing scrap, rework, defects, and process inefficiencies within fabrication operations. + Promote and reinforce a strong safety and quality culture on the manufacturing floor, ensuring that quality considerations are integrated into daily operations and decision-making. + Participate in or lead internal audits to verify compliance with QMS requirements and support external audits as needed. + Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation, including work instructions, inspection plans, and quality procedures. Essential Skills + Minimum of 5 years of quality assurance experience in a production or manufacturing environment. + Strong experience in quality engineering, including hands-on experience with quality assurance tools and methodologies. + Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques, including structured problem-solving methods such as 8D. + Experience managing and improving Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including NCR, CAR, RCA, ECN, and internal audits. + Demonstrated ability to develop, track, and interpret quality metrics and KPIs for products, processes, and suppliers. + Experience with supplier quality, including supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and development. + Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and related inspection requirements. + Bacheloru2019s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. + Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with production, engineering, and supplier teams. + Ability to lead inspection activities across supplier, receiving, in-process, and final stages. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in metal fabrication, welding, and painting processes. + Familiarity with SolidWorks for reviewing or supporting product and component designs. + Experience with PDM, MRP, and ERP systems in a manufacturing environment. + Knowledge of drafting standards such as ANSI Y14. + Experience working within ISO 9001 quality management systems. + Lean Six Sigma certification or experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. + Experience with in driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap, rework, and process efficiency. + Experience promoting and supporting a strong safety and quality culture in manufacturing. Work Environment This role operates in a production and manufacturing environment with a strong focus on fabricated sheet metal components. The Quality Engineer spends time both in an office setting, working with QMS documentation, metrics, and systems such as PDM, MRP, and ERP, and on the manufacturing floor, leading inspections and collaborating with production and engineering teams. The work involves regular interaction with suppliers, participation in audits, and hands-on involvement in inspection and quality improvement activities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Winneconne, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
