The primary purpose of the Senior Patient Escort position is to transport patients, specimens, shrouded bodies of deceased patients to the morgue and medical records/film safely and efficiently throughout the institution, as well as rounding up and maintaining all department equipment. The escort is required to provide and display professional and courteous customer service and demeanor. The Senior Patient Escort will train and onboard new employees. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of patient transportation, patient dispatch, or related hospital experience. The first six weeks of employment will be spent in training. You must attend the following mandatory training schedule: The training schedule will be provided. Schedule: Monday - Friday / Hours varies WhatYou'llDo: I. Patient Care u2022 Safely and efficiently transport patients, specimens, medical records, and expired patients throughout the institution. u2022 Assist clinical staff in safely moving patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers. u2022 Meet established productivity standards and departmental compliance requirements. u2022 Deliver care with professionalism, compassion, integrity, and respect. II. Equipment Care u2022 Ensure equipment is in proper working condition before and after use; remove damaged or malfunctioning equipment from service, tag for repair, and alert appropriate personnel. u2022 Round up, clean, and disinfect equipment before and after each use and return items to their designated storage areas. u2022 Maintain working knowledge of all transport-related equipment. u2022 Utilize required technology and tools accurately to receive and complete transport assignments. III. Certification and Training u2022 Attend and complete all required annual training programs, including Employee Education Events, Hand Hygiene, Infection Control, Age-Appropriate Care, and Customer Service training, as well as maintain a valid CPR certification. u2022 Complete self-assessments and establish personal development goals that support departmental and institutional priorities. u2022 Participate in monthly performance initiatives to maintain compliance with departmental and institutional standards, policies, and procedures. u2022 Successfully pass a pre-employment skills assessment administered by Human Resources. Please Note: This position may require transporting patients suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. A respirator fit test is required, and proper fitting may require trimming or removal of facial hair to ensure an adequate seal.
