Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician Job Description This role involves installing and assembling sheet metal ductwork and related components for a large healthcare construction project. You will work as part of a field crew that includes journeyman-level technicians and helpers, focusing on safe, accurate, and efficient installation of high- and low-pressure duct systems in a hospital environment. Responsibilities + Install hangers for sheet metal systems, including hanging sheet metal strap from pre-installed inserts in concrete decks and installing trapeze strut hangers. + Install high-pressure duct systems using TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct connections, ensuring all joints and connections meet project specifications and quality standards. + Cut in taps on high-pressure ductwork as needed to accommodate branch lines and system changes. + Install low-pressure duct systems, including cutting and installing spiral ductwork and fittings according to blueprints and layout drawings. + Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to determine duct routing, hanger locations, and material requirements. + Use hand and power tools such as impact drills, wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, sockets, and screwdrivers to assemble and secure duct systems. + Operate a scissor lift safely to perform overhead work in compliance with safety guidelines and training. + Follow all site safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE such as type 2 hard hat with chin strap, cut level 5 gloves, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, harness and retractable (when required), and steel-toed boots. + Coordinate with other trades and team members to maintain efficient workflow and minimize rework. + Inspect completed work for alignment, securement, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed. + Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored safely at the end of each shift. + Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding progress, issues, and material or tool needs. Essential Skills + At least 5 years of experience installing ductwork in construction or HVAC environments. + Proficiency in installing high-pressure duct systems, including TDF/TDC flange rectangular duct connections. + Experience cutting and installing spiral ductwork and fittings for low-pressure duct systems. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings related to sheet metal and HVAC installation. + Current or obtainable OSHA 10 (or higher) safety certification. + Current or obtainable scissor lift certification. + Ability to safely operate and maintain hand and power tools, including impact drill, wrench, pliers, channel locks, vice grips, 9/16
