Description Location: Charlotte, NC Exchange Architect u2013 Microsoft 365 Role Overview The Exchange Architect is responsible for the design, architecture, and technical governance of Microsoft Exchange Online within Microsoft 365. This role leads complex email, calendaring, and collaboration initiatives, ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available messaging solutions aligned to business and compliance requirements. The architect works closely with security, identity, endpoint, and collaboration teams and serves as the technical authority for Exchange related decisions across the tenant. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design u2022 Design and maintain Exchange Online architecture within Microsoft 365, including: o Mail flow (inbound, outbound, hybrid) o SMTP relay o Transport rules, connectors, and routing u2022 Define reference architectures for: o Exchange Onlineu2013only tenants o Hybrid Exchange (on premises + Exchange Online) o Cross tenant migrations and coexistence u2022 Ensure alignment with M365 security, identity, and compliance architectures Migration & Modernization u2022 Lead and design email migrations from: o Exchange Server (2013/2016/2019) o Third party platforms (Google Workspace, Lotus Notes, etc.) u2022 Define migration strategies, tools, and sequencing (cutover, staged, hybrid) u2022 Oversee legacy Exchange decommissioning and dependency cleanup Security, Compliance & Governance u2022 Architect solutions leveraging: o Exchange Online Protection (EOP) o Microsoft Defender for Office 365 o Data Loss Prevention (DLP) o Retention policies and litigation hold u2022 Partner with security teams on: o Phishing and spam mitigation o Zero Trust email architecture o DMARC, DKIM, SPF implementation Skills Exchange, Office 365, Active directory, Exchange server Top Skills Details Exchange,Office 365,Active directory Additional Skills & Qualifications Performance, Availability & Operations u2022 Design for high availability and resiliency u2022 Establish best practices for: o Service health monitoring o Mail flow troubleshooting o Capacity and license planning u2022 Serve as escalation point for complex Exchange issues Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
