POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY: Supervises personnel performing clerical and support functions related to the Ada County court system. Work is performed under general supervision. This role supports the Clerku2019s mission to serve and build trust. The Supervisor is expected to demonstrate kindness, be joyful, support innovation, communicate transparently, and remain focused on work that supports the Courtu2019s core responsibilities and service to the community and our team. Essential Functions + Supervises personnel, assigns work, reviews and evaluates performance through regularly cadenced one-on-one feedback meetings with each employee, counsels employees regarding programs, policies and procedures, resolves employee complaints, takes disciplinary action, interviews and hires employees, tracks time and coordinates vacation schedules; + Problem solves, troubleshoots and provides guidance in resolving complex questions and issues; + Responsible for exemplifying and encouraging employee growth in the values and mission of the Clerku2019s Office; + Creates employment engagement, recognition and team building activities and momentum for employees; + Fosters growth mindset in employees and encourages professional and personal development; + Reviews, implements and enforces office policies and procedures; Assists in implementation of new policies and procedures; + Engages in regular, open dialogue with director(s) to cultivate a relationship that encourages feedback, supports career growth, provides clarity in direction and ensures visibility into team progress and challenges. + Conducts team meetings; Attends and contributes to leadership meetings; + Interacts with judges, attorneys, outside partner agencies, and the public; Communicates with other court clerk divisions and leadership; Creates and maintains working relationships with other offices and agencies; + In conjunction with other team members and Directors, ensures new employees receive onboarding including overseeing initial job training, training scheduling, cross-training, documentation, introductions, and early-stage job shadowing to ensure clerks are prepared for a variety of court-related functions, including court procedures, data entry systems, case management practices, and customer service expectations; + Provides input to the Directors on needed capital and non-capital expenditures; + Performs work audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency; + May participate in committees or be responsible for implementing other special projects; ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: + May perform essential functions of a Court Clerk; + Performs related functions as required. Job Requirements + Bacheloru2019s Degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice, Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; + Experience as a Deputy Court Clerk to obtain sufficient knowledge of court policies, procedures, and functions, typically gained over three (3) or more years; + Experience in supervision preferred; + Extensive knowledge of legal procedures documents and terminology; + Strong understanding of court processes, applicable laws, rules, and procedures; + Skill in the operation of computers, including word processing and database applications; + Skill in communicating effectively, verbally and in writing; + Skill in organization, time management, and problem-solving; + Knowledge of supervision principles, concepts, and techniques; + Skill in the operation of a personal computer; + Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, departments, agencies and the public; + Ability to work as a team player with demonstrated diplomacy skills; + Ability to plan and organize work; + Ability to supervise and motivate employees; + Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; + Ability to interpret policy and procedure manuals; + Ability to explain complex information such as rules and regulations; + Ability to maintain confidentiality; + Ability to plan and organize work; + Ability to meet deadlines; + Ability to coordinate work with other agencies; + Ability to lead a team to accomplish division and department goals; Work Environment & Physical Demands + Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions; + Requires sufficient mobility to move continually about the office for up to eight (8) hours per day; + May be required to lift up to 25 lbs.; + Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
