Job Title: Mechanic & Robotics Technician (Maintenance Technician II) Job Description The Mechanic & Robotics Technician (Maintenance Technician II) supports the operations maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, and pneumatic systems in a large, highly automated distribution facility. In this role, you ensure that automated packaging and distribution equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime through hands-on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and accurate documentation. Responsibilities + Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as automated conveyor systems and related components. + Perform preventive maintenance routines on material handling equipment, including completing all required documentation, checklists, and procedures. + Conduct battery changes and perform preventive maintenance on industrial batteries to ensure safe and reliable operation. + Enter equipment downtime data into daily logs and accurately complete preventive maintenance (PM) sheets. + Manage and update work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track tasks, repairs, and maintenance history. + Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on automated equipment and robotics. + Apply knowledge of basic electrical components to diagnose faults and support repairs on automated systems and controls. + Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to identify issues and plan repairs or installations. + Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions to minimize future downtime. + Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on material handling equipment (MHE) systems to quickly restore operations. + Track, organize, and store department inventory, including spare parts and critical components, to support timely repairs. + Follow and demonstrate established safety standards and procedures during all maintenance activities. + Collaborate with operations and maintenance team members to prioritize work, coordinate repairs, and support continuous improvement of equipment reliability. Essential Skills + 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. + 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. + 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles. + 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment. + 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on MHE systems. + 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications for documentation and reporting. + Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting. + Experience working with automated conveyor systems and high-speed material handling equipment. + Ability to perform preventive maintenance on hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and related components. + Ability to read and work from schematics, technical drawings, and equipment documentation. + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions. + Comfort using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage work orders and maintenance records. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on experience with robotics and automated, high-speed equipment in a distribution or manufacturing environment. + Familiarity with materials handling systems and automated packaging and distribution equipment. + Strong attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities, downtime events, and preventive maintenance tasks. + Ability to manage spare parts inventory and organize maintenance resources efficiently. + Comfort working in a performance-driven environment where productivity and maintenance metrics are tracked. + Physical ability to walk significant distances during a shift and handle moderately heavy loads as part of routine duties. Work Environment You work in a large, highly automated distribution facility equipped with high-speed material handling systems and extensive robotic components. The role is hands-on and physically active, requiring comfort with walking significant distances throughout the shift (such as approximately 10,000 steps per day) and safely lifting loads up to around 49 pounds as part of normal duties. Performance is monitored through data and metrics to ensure expectations are met, but day-to-day work is not micromanaged, giving you autonomy while maintaining clear performance standards. You interact regularly with automated conveyors, robotics, industrial batteries, and related maintenance tools and equipment, and you use a CMMS and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting. Shifts follow a compressed schedule with 12-hour rotations: 4:00 a.m.u20134:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.u20134:00 a.m. on Sundayu2013Wednesday (front-half days and front-half nights) and 4:00 a.m.u20134:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.u20134:00 a.m. on Wednesdayu2013Saturday (back-half days and nights). Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.50 - $29.50/hr.
