Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Tennessee in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position combines core accounting ownership with payroll leadership, making it ideal for someone who can manage financial close activities while ensuring accurate payroll processing for a mid-sized employee population. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen reconciliations, and support timely month-end and quarter-end reporting. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee monthly accounting activities by preparing journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and supporting an accurate and timely close process. u2022 Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, researching discrepancies and resolving issues promptly. u2022 Support month-end and quarter-end reporting by reviewing financial data, validating account activity, and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met. u2022 Lead payroll processing for approximately 200 employees using Paycor, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. u2022 Monitor payroll-related records and coordinate updates to earnings, deductions, and employee changes to maintain reliable payroll data. u2022 Analyze account balances and financial transactions to identify variances, investigate unusual activity, and recommend corrective action when needed. u2022 Partner with internal stakeholders to gather documentation, answer accounting and payroll questions, and maintain organized financial records. u2022 Utilize NetSuite and other accounting tools to manage transactions, reconciliations, and reporting workflows effectively. Requirements u2022 3+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for close activities and account reconciliations. u2022 Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries and working within a general ledger environment. u2022 Strong background in bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliation with close attention to detail. u2022 Practical payroll experience supporting an employee population between 101 and 500 employees. u2022 Experience using Paycor for payroll administration and processing. u2022 Working knowledge of NetSuite or a comparable ERP/accounting system. u2022 Ability to manage multiple deadlines during month-end and quarter-end cycles while maintaining accuracy.
