This position offers up to a $10,000 sign on bonus based on experience BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown, NYC is seeking a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery department Play a vital role in delivering advanced care to our patients. You'll assist with diagnostics while supporting orthopedic + soft tissue procedures and ensuring each patient receives a tailored treatment plan. Schedule: 4-10 hour week day shifts; occasional on-call Pay: $27.00 - $51.00 / hour + on-call pay when applicable _This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool._ _Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience._ We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example: + Mon u2013 Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential + Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential + Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr. Shift Differential As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will: + Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs. + Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions. + Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance. + Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. + Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. + Set up intravenous fluids and CRIu2019s. + Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management. + Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors. + Comfortable with medical math. + Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery) + Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc. + Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically. + Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
