Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities Duties Include but are not limited to: Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based procedural care to assigned patients and oversight of staff, including but not limited to licensed vocational/practical nurses and/or health technicians/nursing assistants, as appropriate in the pre/post procedural setting. Provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching. They will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients. Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the development of healthcare professionals. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Integrates evidence-based practice with clinical expertise. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain and improve an evidence-based-practice culture. May function in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting providers during procedures. Maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment. Recognize changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency responses. Adapts to changes in the daily schedule. May be assigned call, in which the the RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time. Will perform additional duties as assigned. This position is not approved for telework and staff is required to be on onsite in the clinical area of assignment. This is a VA-NYHHCS Position. This position supports all 3 campuses and may require rotation as needed.
