Job Duties Job Summary This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling the finances and accounting to ensure efficient and prudent management of operations and protection of financial resources and assets of Mississippi Pillager, LLC dba White Earth Enterprises and affiliates. Hybrid work environment is acceptable for this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties listed below are representative of the work performed by this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Duties may vary based on business need. Financial Leadership & Executive Support -Serve as a key financial advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership. -Develop and maintain relationships with banking, investment, and insurance partners to support the organization’s financial strategy and safeguard assets. -Assists in securing proposals for the procurement of risk and property insurance. -Monitor self-funded workers’ compensation and group health benefit programs to ensure appropriate funding and compliance. Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations -Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and reporting of accurate internal and external financial records in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. -Direct daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes, including revenue audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, inventory, and fixed assets. -Ensure timely and accurate external filings, including financial statements and regulatory submissions. -Oversee tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of payroll and business-related taxes. -Provide financial reports, analyses, and interpretations of operating results to all levels of management. -Advise managers on accounting entries, financial reports, and comparative analyses. -Develop, implement, and interpret accounting policies, procedures, and special financial reports as needed. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Reporting -Develop, manage, and oversee the annual budget for accounting and materials departments. -Monitor organization-wide budgets; review performance with executive leadership and business units on a regular basis. -Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances, and communicate significant budget deviations to executive management. -Anticipate and plan for financial and system resource needs. -Prepare and present annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans for executive and board approval. -Authorize expenditures and approve departmental budgets and expenses in accordance with approved plans. -Develop short- and long-range financial and operational objectives. Internal Controls, Compliance & Audit -Establish, maintain, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect organizational assets. -Ensure compliance with GAAP, governmental regulations, and applicable accounting standards. -Maintain oversight of internal audit functions and asset protection policies. -Coordinate the annual external audit, including preparation of documentation and direct interaction with external auditors. Inventory, Purchasing & Systems Oversight -Oversee inventory process, levels and the reporting material variances to management. -Oversee purchasing functions to ensure financial controls and efficiency. -Ensure consistency and standardization across all accounting operations. -Collaborate with management to support the development, implementation, and optimization of accounting and financial software systems across departments. Staff Management & Development -Recruit, select, onboard, and retain qualified accounting and finance staff. -Clearly define and communicate roles, responsibilities, and authority for all assigned positions. -Manage performance through coaching, counseling, and formal evaluations. -Ensure performance appraisal systems are applied consistently and effectively. -Promote effective communication within the department through regular meetings and feedback. -Identify training and professional development needs and implement appropriate programs. -Develop succession plans and backup coverage for key roles. Professional Development & Special Assignments Stay current with accounting standards, regulatory changes, and best practices. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by senior management. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: -interviewing, hiring, and training employees; -planning, assigning, and directing work; -appraising performance; -rewarding and disciplining employees; -addressing complaints and resolving problems Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related Field Minimum Experience Required 5 years' related experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Finance Shift First (Day) Number of Openings 1 Public Transportation Accessible No Veterans Encouraged to Apply Yes Physical Required No Drug Test Required Yes Compensation $76,348.00 - $95,435.00 / Annually Additional Compensation Potential relocation reimbursement. Wages stated are minimum to midpoint. Consideration above the midpoint will be considered based on education and related experience.
