Job Overview The Senior VDC Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for digital construction delivery across multiple major building projects or portfolios. You will define and operationalize corporate and project-level VDC strategy and governance, set and enforce model quality and data standards, and ensure model-driven workflows deliver measurable improvements in project planning and logistics, safety, schedule predictability, cost control, constructability, and quality. Working from preconstruction through turnover, you will collaborate with design teams, trade partners, operations, estimating, project controls, and IT to deliver federated models, 4D/5D simulations, installation sequencing and logistics, prefabrication strategies, and verified as-built documentation and digital handover solutions. As the primary technical advisor to project and regional leadership, you translate advanced digital capabilities into field outcomes including reality capture, model-driven procurement, client-facing visualizations, progress reviews, and budget planning to align resources with project goals. You will lead continuous improvement and innovation initiatives, piloting and scaling emerging technologies (automation, AI-assisted model validation, digital twins) and institutionalizing standards, BIM Execution Plans, and quality controls. A core part of the role is building VDC capability across the organization through coaching, governance, and cross-functional collaboration while tracking and reporting VDC KPIs (clash resolution, schedule alignment, installation accuracy, model health) to demonstrate value. This senior, cross-functional role requires strong proficiency in coordination, model and data quality management, technology integration, and budget planning; regular engagement with field sites and stakeholders; and accountability for delivering compliant, high-quality digital deliverables that support Skanska’s safety, sustainability, and operational excellence objectives.Duties and Responsibilities: Set strategic VDC program goals, lead implementation, develop budgets and manage VDC resources across multiple, concurrent projects; create alignment between project teams, and leadership.Author and enforce BIM Execution Plans, company-wide modeling standards, LOD definitions, naming conventions, and data exchange protocols.Oversee federated model coordination across architecture, structure, and MEP disciplines; manage clash detection processes, issue tracking, and resolution to reduce field rework.Lead 4D (schedule integration) and 5D (cost integration) workflows to inform planning, pull-planning sessions, and procurement decisions; produce stakeholder-facing simulations and progress visualizations.Champion and scale prefabrication, modularization, and model-based procurement in partnership with estimating, trade contractors, and fabrication vendors.Implement model QA/QC, model health metrics, and governance processes; monitor version control, data integrity, and compliance with contractual and owner requirements.Direct reality capture programs (laser scan, photogrammetry) for verification, quality assurance, and as-built documentation; integrate point-clouds with models.Translate digital deliverables into field-facing outputs: installation sequencing, site logistics, shop drawing support, quantity takeoffs, and turnover packages.Manage, mentor, and grow a team of VDC managers, engineers, and coordinators; define roles, set priorities, and deliver training to elevate digital competency across project teams.Collaborate with IT and digital innovation teams to evaluate, pilot, and deploy new technologies (cloud collaboration platforms, automation scripts, digital twin frameworks, IoT integrations).Track and report VDC KPIs and business outcomes (clash reduction rates, prefabrication uptake, schedule adherence, model health); produce executive summaries and client-facing materials.Support pursuits and preconstruction: develop VDC narratives, constructability visualizations, risk mitigation plans, and resource estimates for proposals.Support the responsible adoption of technologies like AI that can be applied to the construction industry to improve efficiency, support decision making, and mitigate risk.Knowledge of Reality Capture technology including 360 cameras, web cameras, LiDAR, and drone capture to support digital project delivery requirements to reflect the built environment.Mentor team members by providing technical guidance, coordination workflows, and software best practices.Other Duties: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. Education and Experience: Required Qualifications: 7+ years of experience with VDC in construction7+ years’ experience in BIM authoring with Autodesk Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP. Experience with other authoring platforms such as ArchiCAD, Tekla, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, Autodesk Inventor, CAD-Duct and related tools is desirable.7+ years’ experience in Autodesk Navisworks for construction analyses such as coordination and clash prevention, quantity takeoff and 4D simulation is required. Experience with other BIM analysis and construction management tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (formerly BIM360), Synchro, Solibri, Tekla CM, etc., is also desirable.4+ years’ experience reading drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical products and material specifications, as well as interpret and manage VDC contractual obligations and responsibilities.Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 7 years prior relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications: A thorough understanding of common building systems as well as related means and methods.Expertise with construction coordination processes is strongly preferredKnowledge of Construction Management software tools such as Procore, Autocad, Revit, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff or equivalents Knowledge of Reality Capture technology including 360 cameras, LiDAR, and drone capture.General Knowledge of Industry terminology Familiarity with or Experience using financial software for timekeeping and expenses such as JD Edwards or equivalentStrong written and verbal communication skills including experience utilizing email, phone, and Microsoft office platformsUnderstands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
