Description We are looking for a Cable Technician to support installation and service work for structured cabling, network hardware, and connected security systems in Athens, Georgia. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work, organized equipment setup, and resolving technical issues across low-voltage environments. The role will contribute to reliable connectivity and physical security by assisting with new deployments, maintenance tasks, and on-site troubleshooting. Responsibilities: u2022 Install and terminate Cat6 and other low-voltage cabling to support network, communication, and security infrastructure. u2022 Arrange, mount, and organize equipment in racks, ensuring clean cable routing, labeling, and patching for efficient operation. u2022 Set up and maintain network-connected devices such as switches, routers, wireless units, and related hardware in Layer 2 and Layer 3 environments. u2022 Troubleshoot service interruptions, signal issues, and equipment faults to restore network and system performance quickly. u2022 Support the installation and upkeep of fiber-optic and structured cabling systems at commercial or multifamily sites. u2022 Deploy and service IP-based surveillance equipment, including cameras and recording devices, while verifying connectivity and image performance. u2022 Assist with access control system installation by connecting and testing readers, keypads, panels, and associated door hardware. u2022 Document site activity, equipment changes, and configuration details to help maintain accurate technical records. u2022 Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and site contacts during rollouts, repairs, upgrades, and hardware replacements. Requirements u2022 Hands-on experience with network cabling, cable installation, and low-voltage infrastructure work. u2022 Practical knowledge of Cat6 cabling, rack-and-stack procedures, and structured cable management. u2022 Familiarity with fiber-optic cabling and basic troubleshooting in networked environments. u2022 Experience supporting network hardware and related connectivity components in the field. u2022 Ability to install, test, and maintain IP-based security or access control systems is preferred. u2022 Understanding of networking fundamentals such as switching, routing concepts, PoE, and device connectivity. u2022 Technical training, certification, or comparable work experience in cabling, networking, or a related field is preferred.
