Job Title: Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Testing Technician Job Description Join a collaborative mechanical testing laboratory as a Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Testing Technician, where you will perform mechanical tests in accordance with established codes and standards, support engineers and customers with accurate test results, and help maintain a clean, efficient, and well-documented lab environment. You will work hands-on with mechanical and hydraulic equipment, support robotics and welding-related projects, and contribute to project-based work in a climate-controlled manufacturing lab. Responsibilities + Perform mechanical tests in the laboratory by following specific and general instructions from engineers and senior technicians. + Set up mechanical and hydraulic test equipment in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and test procedures. + Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records of mechanical test setups, parameters, and results. + Interact with engineers to clarify test requirements, discuss test results, and ensure testing meets project objectives. + Communicate with external customers in a professional manner to help deliver test results and support their project timelines. + Work closely with other team members to plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical testing operations efficiently. + Assist with troubleshooting, basic maintenance, and adjustment of mechanical and hydraulic test equipment to ensure reliable operation. + Support testing and maintenance activities related to robotics, welding, CNC equipment, PLC-controlled systems, and Fanuc controls as needed. + Follow laboratory safety procedures and best practices while handling mechanical, hydraulic, and welding-related equipment. + Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable work area in the mechanical testing lab. + Use basic computer systems and data acquisition software to record, store, and retrieve test data. + Contribute to project-based work by supporting test planning, execution, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Essential Skills + High school diploma or equivalent. + Experience working with mechanical and hydraulic equipment in a lab, manufacturing, or maintenance setting. + Familiarity with basic computer operations, including using standard software and data acquisition tools. + Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from engineers and technicians to perform tests accurately. + Strong attention to detail when setting up tests, recording data, and documenting results. + Ability to maintain accurate, legible, and organized test records and documentation. + Effective communication skills to interact with engineers, team members, and external customers. + Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a project-based environment. + Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Welding skills and knowledge, particularly in support of welding-related testing and projects. + Experience with robotics in a manufacturing or testing environment. + Background in maintenance or technician roles involving mechanical systems. + Exposure to CNC maintenance and troubleshooting. + Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and basic control system concepts. + Experience working with Fanuc controls or similar industrial control platforms. + Interest in research and development activities related to mechanical or welding technologies. + Willingness to learn new testing methods, equipment, and software tools as projects require. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing laboratory environment that is climate controlled and designed for comfort and safety. You will work primarily in a mechanical testing lab equipped with mechanical and hydraulic test systems, robotics, welding-related equipment, CNC machinery, PLC-controlled systems, and Fanuc controls. The work is largely project-based, so priorities may shift as new projects and customer needs arise, offering variety and exposure to different technologies. You will use computers and data acquisition software regularly to capture and manage test data. The lab emphasizes cleanliness and organization, and you are expected to keep your work area tidy and presentable while following all relevant safety procedures and guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
