Your JobGeorgia Pacific is seeking a talented Process Engineer for its Gypsum facility in Tacoma, WA.The Process Engineer is responsible for reducing manufacturing costs, identifying and eliminating sources of waste and process variation, and for supporting the commercializing of new raw material, product and process innovations.The Process Engineer routinely gathers and analyzes key performance data on processes, product and equipment to identify strategic improvements that create value. This role provides process engineering oversight for the entire manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished goods, and effectively works with Operations, Quality and Reliability to measurably improve quality, increase production / yield, and eliminate waste. Process Engineer frequently leads teams in the execution of improvement projects to accomplish these goals.The Process Engineer works in conjunction with Division teams to conduct trials that commercialize innovation in raw materials, finished product and process equipment. To learn more about our Building Products division, visit And, to learn more about our gypsum products, visit You Will DoGENERAL TASKS:Root Cause analysis; equipment troubleshooting; gap analysis; benchmarking; developing improvement plans; leading improvement teams; asset performance tracking & reporting; developing and implementing best practices; providing technical leadership and support on both capital and non-capital projects.CONTACTS / INTERFACES:Internal: Interacts with key operations personnel such as the Plant Manager, Division Process Engineering Manager, Superintendents (Operations and Maintenance), Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Manager, Regional Operations Managers, and Divisional Support Staff.External: Develops a network of relationships with processing, reliability and maintenance professionals at other Gypsum plants and within the Division. Manages working-relationship with process-equipment supplier(s) and contractor(s)Basic Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline and/or 10+ years of gypsum wallboard manufacturing experienceThree (3) or more years of industrial operations and/or manufacturing experienceTwo (2) or more years of process engineering, and/or building products manufacturing experienceMust have experience with Root Cause Analysis, performance gap identification and analysis, and project or program planning and executionMust be able and willing to work in an industrial manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, dusty, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Able to travel approximately 10% - 20% for training, to provide technical assistance to other plants, and to support division-wide process engineering projects and initiativesEfficient use of Microsoft Office
