Description The Medical Technician is responsible for:• Assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures• Capturing accurate and detailed documentation of the encounter into the EMR in a timely manner• Assisting nurses with directing patient flow, inventory, and following up on labs• Ensuring site lab compliance with CLIA & UCARegulationsEssential Functions/Responsibilities:Assisting the physician with medical procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) Scope of Practice, which may include but is not limited to external laboratory specimens, UA, EKG, procedure set ups, etc.Ensuring Department of Health (DOH) and CLIA compliance of site lab and exam rooms which may include but is not limited to logbook maintenance, checking for expired medications and supplies, proper handling of specimens etc.Being able to fully document in the EMR on multiple patients per hour on averageFacilitating any necessary diagnostic tests (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasounds, etc.) and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up careCollects, labels, and processes specimens accuratelyCommunicating with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under provider guidanceAssisting the licensed practitioner, under the direct and personal supervision of the licensed practitioner, with CLIA waived tests for which training has been provided as well as EKGs, and acting as a second set of hands for limb stability for sling assistanceEnsuring the site is fully stocked with suppliesHelping maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environmentProviding compassionate care to our patientsAssisting with training and acclimation of new hire Medical Assistants and ScribesQualificationsIf Internal Candidate - must be in good performance and company policy standingGraduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program; a bachelor’s degree in science or related field will be consideredMA Certification or RMA preferred, but not requiredMedical office experience preferredPhlebotomy certification and experience is a plus - training will be provided if neededBasic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, requiredAble to conduct EKGsExperience performing rapid bedside tests preferred ex: UA, finger stick, rapid strep, flu and covid testsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, requiredAbility to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, requiredBasic proficiency in computer use, required Pay Range: $17.60 - $21.30 Hourly The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.About Our CommitmentTotal Rewards at VillageMDOur team members are essential to our mission to reshape healthcare through the power of connection.
