Maintenance Technician up to $34/hour Shift: 2nd: 3pm-11:30pm ; 3rd: 11pm-7:30am Job Description The 2nd & 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician performs both proactive and reactive maintenance on high-speed manufacturing and conveyor equipment in a fast-paced bottling and blow mold operation. This role diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, executes preventive maintenance, supports production changeovers, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and compliant food-grade facility. The position requires a true multi-craft maintenance professional who can work independently, collaborate effectively with a larger maintenance team, and support operations across two adjacent facilities. Responsibilities + Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with production equipment, warehouse bay doors, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, and other plant equipment, resolving problems according to established standards. + Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including lubrication of machines, conveyor belt replacement, and other scheduled tasks, following established guidelines to minimize unplanned downtime. + Perform changeovers on production line equipment to ensure proper setup according to specifications and standards, reducing downtime during product and line changeovers. + Conduct proactive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and conveyor equipment, including pumps and related systems, to support continuous and reliable production. + Work with electrical systems up to 480V, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, VFDs, and ladder logic-controlled equipment as needed for troubleshooting and repair. + Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and pneumatic systems to identify root causes and implement effective repairs. + Support maintenance needs in both the high-speed bottling facility and the adjacent blow mold facility, traveling between buildings as required. + Order parts and maintain an organized parts inventory to ensure timely availability of components needed for repairs and preventive maintenance. + Complete preventive maintenance records, work order forms, time-off requests, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, following established standards. + Communicate effectively with co-workers regarding repair status, with internal customers about equipment repair needs, and with supervisors regarding equipment issues and progress. + Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures, including OSHA and safety requirements, AIB standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. + Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety protocols while performing maintenance tasks and moving between facilities. + Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and work areas, including cleaning up spills, properly disposing of used parts, and placing trash and recycling in appropriate containers. + Work the assigned 2nd shift schedule, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and work overtime as needed to meet workload and coverage demands. + Provide vacation and absence coverage for other maintenance technicians as part of a larger maintenance team, following a schedule communicated several weeks in advance. + Perform other related duties as required to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. Essential Skills + Industrial maintenance experience on production equipment or completion of an associate degree or trade school program in a related field. + Hands-on experience with electrical systems up to 480V in an industrial environment. + Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems. + Proficiency in working with pneumatic systems and related components. + Experience with motors, motor repair, and gearboxes in a production setting. + Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems. + Ability to read, understand, and work with ladder logic and PLC-controlled equipment at a maintenance level. + Experience working with variable frequency drives (VFDs). + Experience in high-speed bottling, plastics processing, filling, or similar manufacturing processes is a plus. + Ability to perform both proactive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and conveyor equipment. + Capability to work safely with tools and equipment in a food-grade, high-speed production environment. + Strong communication skills to coordinate with co-workers, internal customers, and supervisors. + Ability to maintain accurate records and complete documentation for work orders and preventive maintenance. + Reliability in maintaining regular attendance and flexibility to work overtime as needed. + Ability to provide and use personal hand tools required to perform maintenance duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in bottling operations, including high-speed lines that fill plastic bottles and cans. + Experience in plastics or blow mold operations, supporting both bottling and blow mold facilities. + Familiarity with food-grade facility requirements and standards, including cleanliness and contamination control. + Experience with pumps and associated equipment used in high-speed manufacturing environments. + Comfort working as part of a larger maintenance team and providing coverage when other technicians are on vacation. + Strong organizational skills for managing parts inventory and maintaining a clean, orderly maintenance shop. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities. + Adaptability to support maintenance needs across different areas and types of equipment within the facilities.
