These initiatives are essential to achieve a safe and secure customer experience and to support MTAu2019s efforts to increase fare payment across all modes. The position conducts data collection and analysis, field observation, research, and modeling. The result of the analysis enables the design of strategies and programs to optimize decision-making, optimize resource allocation and improve efficiency and effectiveness through revised Department of Security business and operational practices. Responsibilities The selected candidate will assist in a variety of functions for the Fare Enforcement /EAGLE Teams including the development and implementation of strategies to combat both vandalism and fare evasion; provide various administrative support for the Video Unit and the Security Incident Group. The Data Staff Analyst must bring a passion for addressing the challenges of a complex system like New York City Transit: improving processes and the tools needed for better performance, expanding the use and value of data for better decision making, rationalizing governance and organizational structures to more optimally manage challenges and opportunities. Solutions will be based on analysis of operations, workforce, and financial data and must be viable within the constraints of a high-visibility public entity with a diverse set of constituents. In addition to strong problem solving and sophisticated analytic skills, the Analyst must bring communications and presentation skills and be able to engage with clients at all levels of NYCT, from senior leadership to frontline employees. The Analyst must always be resourceful and solution oriented. The Data Staff Analyst may interact with many internal users including operational managers at all levels, functional support managers, schedulers and other data-oriented staff, and senior management to define and execute project work. In addition, they will often work with external parties as needed to carry out best practices research and collect comparative data. Additional responsibilities include: Conduct financial analysis and business process reviews supporting high-profile initiatives for NYCT executive leadership to improve MTAu2019s economic efficiency, service quality and overall performance. Support departmental, interdepartmental and interagency working groups to execute projects critical to reshaping the Department of Security into more innovative and cost-effective department, such as recent work to revamp the EAGLE Team. Projects assigned to the Department of Security will often have a large quantitative and/or process design component. The Analyst position will have primary responsibility for supporting the quantitative and analytical sides of each project. Conducts research and project management to support and inform critical decisions which will impact MTAu2019s cost structure and/or overall productivity and - examples include benchmarking operational and support functions, evaluation of historical cost trends and relevant drivers. Support interdepartmental and interagency working groups to execute strategic initiatives critical to reshaping MTA into a more sustainable and cost-effective organization. Timely collection and dissemination of security related information/documentation. Collecting, preparing, and analyzing data for studies and reports. Utilizing logistical and practical skills for tactical deployment of specialized enforcement teams in the prevention and detection of vandalism, prevention of graffiti, carrying out fare enforcement. The selected candidate may be required to work mandatory overtime, as well as may be required to work flexible hours as needs arise. Desired Skills: Excellent quantitative, analytical, project management and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated quantitative skills and proficiency in Excel modeling, SQL, and dashboard development. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear and succinct way to internal stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills with an established history of working on projects requiring group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationships.
