Shift: Per Diem HospitalistRole Scope Under the responsibility of the physician, theAdvanced Practitioner is responsible for duties within their area of competencein the direct care of inpatients. Advanced Practitioners admit and round oninpatients under the supervision of a physician. Evaluate the status of anyassigned inpatient or outpatient by complete history and physical exam. Orderappropriate lab tests, imaging studies, radiographic and other cardiac imagingstudies, interpret lab, electrocardiographic and imaging studies. Initiate andwrite appropriate orders for the care of assigned medical patients includingnursing care, nutrition, IV therapy, medications and dressing changes. Followstandard medical practices observed in the Department of Medicine, includingdelivery of patient care. Complete record keeping, observe strictconfidentiality, and attend continuing medical conferences and patient reviewsessions. Follow standard medical practices observed in the Department ofMedicine, including delivery of patient care. Advanced Practitioner Requirements Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master's program required Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse through AACN or ANCC Acute Care Board Certification or critical care experience
