Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Nurse Manager PACU. In this role, the successful candidate Provides clinical leadership and management for a designated time-period (shift) for a clinical service, consistent with the philosophy and goals of the institution, Departments of Nursing, unit, or program. Assists the Nurse Manager(s) to develop and sustain an environment of excellence in patient / family service, growth and development of staff, and to apply evidence-based practice to improve patient care. There will be a focus on orientation of new staff members; bedside clinical support identified through performance management and assessment of individual and staff needs. Job Responsibilities: Complies with Hospital Brooklyn compliance program and all its aspects. • Assimilates core values compassion, dignity, integrity and service, throughout all processes. • Acts as a professional role model to all levels of staff by incorporating expertise, critical thinking and related experience in all aspects of nursing process in the care of patients and families. • Participates in Performance Management activities by assisting the NM to monitor the quality and safety metrics of acute patient care. • Provides clinical leadership by assessing, implementing and evaluating the care provided to patients and families in the critical care division. • Maintains professional competency through participating in and attending continuing education conferences and other appropriate learning experiences. • Participates in Patient Care Services Councils and Committees as assigned. • Serves as a consultant/resource person to nursing staff in the interpreting policy, procedure standards and principles and practices of nursing care. • Assists in the development of professional development activities such as conferences, research activities, mentorship programs, nurse residency program and seminars. • Includes age specific considerations in educational content, utilizing resources as needed across disciplines. • Participates in competency assessment and evaluation of all patient care staff. • Assesses on-going educational needs of the nursing staff in conjunction with other nursing leadership. • Completes and maintains required records, program evaluations, attendance sheets, quarterly reports and staff evaluations in an accurate and timely manner. • Participates in the planning and analysis of orientation programs to meet the needs of new nursing staff members. • Meets regularly during orientation with orientee, preceptor to review progress and set objectives. • Utilizes effective conflict resolution strategies when dealing with nursing staff, patients/families, and members of the interdisciplinary team. • Evaluates methods to improve and maintain staff and patient satisfaction in collaboration with the nursing leadership team. • Counsels and coaches staff concerning their work performance and development in collaboration with NM(s). • Evaluates work performance, clinical competencies and conducts employee performance appraisals along with the leadership team. • Takes corrective and/or disciplinary action with staff in collaboration with NM, Division Director, and Human Resources. • Practices, facilitates and role models the principles of team building, delegation and communication. • Flexibly coordinates activities of the unit and matches appropriate skills of staff with appropriate patient care needs. • Assumes responsibility for clinical operations of the unit for the designated shift, collaborating with nursing leadership for patient admission, transfer, and discharge activity. • Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills in area of supervision and directs staff in its application. • Assists Nurse Manager with scheduling and staffing for optimal availability of resources. Establishes staff schedule and adjusts as needed, the assignment of nursing staff to patients based on unit specific standards, staff competency, and acuity of patients. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required. Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York Competence: A minimum of two years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served; ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion which addresses patient/family satisfaction; Progressive advancement in the clinical experience and professional development demonstrated through continuing education, specialty certification and/or participation in evidence based research projects/studies or progression on the clinical ladder. Demonstrates the potential for leadership by serving competently as group practice leader, resource nurse, or charge; demonstrates ability to develop, guide, motivate, nurture, and coach others; participates in service or departmental committees, staff and/or patient education programs. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving; Membership in pertinent professional organizations;. Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS Preferred Qualifications: Certification in relevant practice area preferred. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $96,192.40 - $123,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
