MACHINIST / CNC OPERATORDescription:Personnel performing Machinist functions shall possess the minimum requisite education, training, skills and experience consistent with the duties and responsibilities of such functions and activities as shall be determined by the hiring authority, including the following minimum requirements:Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.Knowledge and Skills Requirements:This position is found in multiple departments and may require any combination of the following knowledge and skills:Be able to use specialized measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, gages, indicators, and the ability to set up, adjust and otherwise use manual and CNC machines including but not limited to lathes, milling machines, grinders and radial drills.Have the ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and other specifications as needed to complete the specific job duties.Have the ability to speak and understand English and grammar sufficient to read, write, enter or utilize information pertinent to the equipment and department, and to otherwise communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by specific job duties.Have the ability to receive and comprehend ongoing training and instruction as required by specific job duties.Responsibilities include:Preparing and operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, turning etc.Understanding specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines.Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.Supervising the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.The Client also has identified Cell Leaders for each manufacturing cell. These individuals are Machinists / CNC Operators with the added responsibilities of being manufacturing cell supervisors responsible for their own individual process (example: Turning, Milling, Grinding, etc.) as well as setting up jobs, verifying other operators work within their cell and training the operators within their cell. Each process consists of multiple machines and operators.
