Senior Civil/Structural EngineerLocation: Harrisburg, PennsylvaniaResponsibilities:Lead and oversee the design and construction supervision of various civil and structural engineering projects, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and best practices.Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design tools to develop and finalize building designs from concept to completion.Conduct a wide range of engineering calculations, including traditional methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.Generate detailed layout plans, foundation designs, steelwork details, and architectural features.Assist in the preparation and approval of design documents, ensuring compliance with established procedures, processes, and design requirements.Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve equipment and system issues, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.Ensure safety standards are integrated into equipment design and specifications, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.Participate in project-based work, coordinating design integration across multiple disciplines.Conduct thorough checks to verify the accuracy of design documents and media.Adhere to project timelines, taking corrective actions to address delays as needed.Stay updated on environmental health and safety policies and procedures, attending meetings as required.Recommend innovative solutions to improve performance, simplify design, and reduce costs.Conduct independent research, reviews, and analyses to support plant changes and modifications.Support the installation and testing of site systems and components.Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for engineering services and manage work assignments to meet project schedules and budgets.Provide leadership and direction to junior staff, serving as a top-level contributor and specialist.Act as Engineering Manager for designated projects.Perform any other duties as assigned.Requirements:Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting design concepts to various stakeholders.Proficiency in FEA, civil design software, and Microsoft Office suite.Strong understanding of industry codes, regulations, and project management principles.Master's degree in civil engineering or related field required.Professional Engineering (PE) License is mandatory.Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.Prior experience in nuclear power plants is preferred.Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.Effective communication abilities and satisfactory hearing capabilities.Visual acuity for close and distant tasks, as well as basic color perception.Comfort working in an office environment and under deadline pressure.Ability to work independently and interact with the public.
