Are you eager to share your skills and hobbies and desire a flexible learning environment that allows you to do so creatively and collaboratively? St. Benedict's Prep seeks energetic, dedicated, full-time teachers for the 2024-25 school year. We begin our year in late July. The successful candidate teaches in a manner that will help our students succeed as learners, gain necessary post-graduation skills, and grow in college readiness. All teachers will need to identify and help students address skill gaps in their academic backgrounds, differentiate instruction, use technology to aid in student learning, and establish classroom routines that create a structured and productive learning environment. Teachers are the first line of intervention for struggling students, and will need to identify students who may need mental health services and help them obtain support in collaboration with our counseling department. Successful teachers here are ones who take the time to learn about their students and become active participants in helping them better their lives. At St. Benedict's Prep, we are committed to enriching our students' lives both inside and outside of the classroom. We believe that our community's collective success relies upon each member's direct involvement in the community. All SBP teachers are expected to be consistent in their practices, flexible, self-motivated, willing to seek and accept support to improve, excited to share their passions with their students, engaged in continuous learning, active in their care for their students, and dedicated to helping students grow as responsible citizens in our community and out in the world. It is important for adults to embrace the opportunity to share spaces and spend time with students, in and out of the classroom. We offer and encourage teacher autonomy in curriculum development and instruction with the understanding that teachers will adapt and adjust according to student needs. The goal of administration is to support teachers in this practice rather than direct every move. Teachers are encouraged to exercise creativity in incorporating innovative practices and experiential learning in their courses.Faculty members are expected to participate in another facet of community life, whether as a coach or activity moderator. We have needs in many extracurricular and co-curricular areas, in several sports as well as in non-athletic activities, in both the Middle and Prep Divisions. Faculty are also able to propose and start new activities that interest both them and the students, and weekly clubs are encouraged in the Elementary Division. Salaries for new teachers with no experience begin at $50K and scale upwards based on experience, education, and course and activity offerings. St. Benedict's Prep is a 156-year-old Catholic school with a rigorous academic program. The 950 students (co-ed K-6, co-ed 7-8, all-boys 9-12, and all-girls 9-12) and 75 faculty members work together to build a community whose members are responsible to one another for developing character and talent.
