Position: Cost Accountant Company: NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. Reports to: Assistant ControllerLocation: Amityville, NY The Company: NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc ("NAPCO", "the Company", "we"), a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ (NSSC), is one of the leading manufacturers and designers of high-tech electronic security devices, cellular communication services for intrusion and fire alarm systems as well as a leading provider of school safety solutions. We offer a diversified array of security products, encompassing access control systems, door-locking products, intrusion and fire alarm systems and video surveillance products. These products are used for commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, and governmental applications, and are sold worldwide principally to independent distributors, dealers, and installers of security equipment. We are expanding our accounting and finance department and are looking for a Cost Accountant for our growing, publicly traded company.Responsibilities:Assist in month end close (i.e. prepare work-papers and schedules for monthly reconciliations).Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.Assist with the execution andor supervision of inventory existence procedures (wall-to-wall physical inventories andor cycle count procedures) for company-managed and third-party locations.Prepare and review monthly journal entries and maintain workbooks for various areas including but not limited to: Cost of goods sold, Inventory, Fixed assets, and others.Prepare financial statement level analytics and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations to help management with business decisions.Assist in guiding accounting staff to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables and entries, including providing improvements on the month end accounting close process.Handle non-routine inventory transactions (write upswrite downs).Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.Assist in annual financial audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to internal and external audit inquiries and PBC lists.Reconcile ERP sub-ledgers to the General Ledger.Assist in accounting research and analysis to construct memorandums and provide conclusions on technical accounting matters.Maintain documentation on the company's accounting policies, best practices and SOP's.Work cross functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, AP, and various business owners on policies, processes and help drive key system initiatives and improvements.Other ad hoc assignments as required.Qualifications:BABS in Accounting or Finance, CPA is a plus.2-6 years of prior experience with a manufacturing entity.Experience across publicprivate accounting.Experience with standard costing.Exposure to a SOX environment.Willingness to extend themselves and assist other people.Understanding of financial controls.Advanced Excel skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work in a dynamic environment.Experience with inventory and cost of goods sold at a manufacturing company.Exposure to Infor XA (formerly MAPICS) andor IBM AS400iSeries platform preferred.
