Please let me know if you or any of your friends would be interested in this position.Position Details:Shift Manager - Screen Printing- Savannah, GALocation: Savannah, GA, 31419 (Onsite)Duration: Full-timePermanentOverviewThe Shift Supervisor position is the third-level supervisory position for the Screen Print Production Department. The person hired for this position will be responsible for supervising the operations of all assigned presses and personnel for their respective shift in the Screen Print Department and ensuring all production quotas and quality standards are met throughout the day. This person must be able to ensure all positions are being trained properly and performing their jobs correctly. Also, this position must ensure shift is adequately staffed to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency. This person is also required to handle all personnel and morale issues on their shift to yield a positive outcome. The primary goal is to monitor and address morale and personnel issues to avoid escalation and minimize the amount of senior leadership needed to resolve or improve. Essential Functions Be able to work the scheduled hours and be willing to work overtime if needed.Be present 15 minutes prior and remain 15 after the conclusion of your shift to prep andor handoff to the next shift. Learn, understand, practice, and enforce all safety policies and procedures. Follow the policies and procedures of the department and company and enforce them with the staff in order to recognize the need for individual re-training.Must be able to perform all positions being supervised (line supervisors, manual printers, stacker, unloader, loader and any support staff). Oversee the cleaning responsibilities throughout the day to insure work areas stay cleaned and organized.Be responsible for the print quality and productivity of entire shift. This includes making sure line supervisors and operators are checking that ink colors match the PMS callouts prior to printing, correct garments are being printed, ink is curing properly, placement of print is correct, consistency and clarity of print are being addressed, designs are registered accurately, etc.Meet the expected completion times of the production schedule daily. When this is not possible, provide enough notice to the Department Manager to react with thorough explanations and potential solutions to avoid in the future.Document daily production numbers on screens set up, total shirts printed, total defects and time worked for each assigned machine and be able to explain variances to generate the daily shift production report. Insure all daily shift production numbers are recorded. Manage all inventories or supplies that are utilized by the personnel being supervised to insure there is always an adequate supply with no need to expedite delivery. Alert Department Manager when supplies are depleted. Be responsible for the evaluation and training of all personnel being supervised. Motivate staff to perform their position as a systems expert. Give recommendations for pay increases and advancement and administer disciplinarycorrective action for personnel being supervised through Paycom. Be involved in the interviewing process of potential new employees when asked.Grow the current staff being supervised by challenging them to be more accountable, provoke self-thinking and implement cross-training in all areas (particularly where there is no back-up).Share ideas to improve current processes including purchasing, quality, efficiencies, techniques and morale boosting. Review labor needs daily and weekly to determine where reductions or additions are needed.Must be able to tolerate the warm to hot ambient temperature of the work area.Must be able to tolerate dusty environment due to airborne particles.Must be able to tolerate smells and odors generated from the chemicals used for cleaning and repairs to garments.Perform, delegate or request required maintenance on the machinery as needed or scheduled.Must be team oriented, be able to communicate, have eye-hand coordination, have attention to detail, be conscientious, be able to count and record accurate data, show effort to perform the job to meet our minimum expectations, exhibit leadership, have the ability to train others, possess problem solving skills, be self-motivated, be production oriented and quality conscious, be proficient at evaluation of staff, supervising, team-building and be accountable.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily required to walk around assigned area to check on operations; use eyes to observe employees performing their job, observe print quality, observe production rates and efficiencies, observe surroundings; computer work is required (may include sitting) including adjustingapproving time and attendance, performance evaluations, disciplinarycorrective action documents, basic spreadsheets, personnel statements, etc.; occasionally being hands-on in the production process depending on the needs or situation - this could include standing for long periods, twistingturning, using eyes and hands to perform the loading, unloading, stacking, manual printing, etc.MonthlyYearly TasksPerform required maintenance on equipment.Review KPI's to recognize and address trends on the shift. Team Building.Accountability.Self-motivated.Production oriented.Quality conscious.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position requires employee to give instructions and enforce all policies and procedures to all assigned staff throughout the day on all tasks that affect the productivity, efficiencies and quality of the respective machines being supervised. This includes all loaders, unloaders, stackers, manual printers, lead operators, assistant operators and support staff assigned to your shift. Overall development and growth of the employees for the respective shift are the Shift Supervisor's responsibility. Training roles should be assigned by this position through the line supervisors. The developmental responsibilities being assigned include showing new employee how to physically perform the task, review essential functions, observe employee attempting the physical function, pointing out discrepancies with the performance of the functions, alerting trainee when issues are overlooked and informing the employee of their progress or when the task needs improvement. Shift Supervisor should be able to recognize successes and opportunities in these areas. Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a warehouse manufacturing environment around heavy stationary equipment with moving parts and some material handling equipment. The environment can be warm at times with limited air conditioning andor air flow. This environment can be dusty due to airborne lint from the garments and adhesives used to manufacture the garments. Some chemicals are used for cleaning that require gloves and safety goggles. There are odors generated from the products we use and produce that may be unpleasant on a daily basis. You will get ink, lint and adhesive on your skin and clothing. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 1:45pm - 10:45 pm for 2nd shift. This position regularly requires overtime hours, weekend work and some holidays depending on the workload. This position is expected to report to work prior the beginning of the shift by at least 15 minutes to prep. Required Education and ExperienceNo level of education is required for this position as long as the employee can perform the essential functions and competencies.Prior supervisory experience is required for this position.
