POSITION SUMMARYThe Computer History Museum (CHM) is seeking an energetic and experienced professional to join our team as its Volunteer Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, placement, management, and support of volunteers. This role involves building and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, ensuring their effective contribution to the organization's mission, and managing the overall volunteer program to ensure it runs smoothly and effectively.CHM fosters a collaborative culture; as with all staff, the Volunteer Manager acts to support teamwork, open communication, trust, and respect among peers. If you enjoy working in a fun environment and collaborating with a warm, welcoming, and dedicated team, we encourage you to apply!RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, including outreach through community organizations and online platforms.Conduct volunteer interviews, coordinate orientation sessions and oversee the onboarding process, ensuring volunteers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources for their role.Collaborate with Museum staff to support training for volunteers and ensure they have opportunities to develop their skills and keep their knowledge current.Schedule public and private volunteer-led tours and demonstrations and ensure their operations are smooth and serve audience needs.Act as the primary point of contact for staff to request volunteer support for new opportunities. Collaborate with Museum staff and departments to integrate volunteers into various Museum programs and initiatives.Maintain accurate records of volunteer information, hours, and activities using designated systems.Ensure volunteers adhere to Museum policies, procedures, and code of conduct.Monitor volunteer performance and address any issues related to policy compliance in a timely manner.Provide ongoing support, guidance, and supervision to volunteers, addressing any questions, concerns, or issues that may arise during their tenure.Develop and implement recognition programs to acknowledge and appreciate volunteers' contributions.Keep volunteers informed about Museum updates, events, and opportunities.
