Job Description

Job PurposeThe role of the Detailing Manager is to plan, direct, and coordinate activities of all in house and subcontracting detailing services to ensure drawings are released to production and field operations to meet customer schedules.Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for day-to-day operation of all in house and subcontract detailing servicesResponsible for establishing all detailing schedules and maintaining all budgetsResponsible for the determining and then resolving all training issues as they pertain to the detailing departmentWork closely with Project Managers and act as the liaison between detailers and project managers on shop drawingsReview architectural (and all other contract) drawings and contract documents for thoroughness, generate, document and submit requests for information (RFI's) through the project managerManage connection design in accordance with AISC, USI Engineer and Engineer of recordMaintain strong communication with internal management team, and vendors to ensure quality level is meeting expectationsEnsure that all subcontracts are made and written with proper documentation in a manner that meets the needs of United Steel, Inc. and its clientsActs as a liaison between detailers, internal project manager, customers and documents any communication that affects schedule, price, changes, or special agreements or RFI'sMaintains all internal procedural communication methods such as daily and weekly reports as well as schedules for structural steelEnsure USI shop standards are implemented and consistently followed by all detailersRequired to follow United Steel and Project Site Safety Rule, which includes wearing all required PPEThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.Maintains all internal procedural communication methods such as daily and weekly reports, schedules, and AISC detailing documents for structural steel.Qualificationsdegree from a four-year college or university or 5 to 10 years of related experience andor training or equivalent combination of education and experience in detailinganalytical and system thinking and effective in presenting such analysis and thinking to constituents in multiple levels of the organizationinterpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) required with all levels of the organization, and ability to implement and sustain change effectivelyleadership effectiveness through a sense of urgency to drive results. Effectively balances consistency with flexibility and willing to change ideas in the face of new information.Must have the ability to read and understand structural and or miscellaneous drawingsMust be able to work in and encourage a collaborative environment and to perform positively in high conflict situationsProficient computer skills on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management Software, and pdf editorsModeling Experiences in TeklaSDS2 AutoCAD highly desiredDevelops effective working relationships, which foster integrity, trust, and respectStrong sense of urgency and ability to work through bid process; addressing customer needs and requests, and balancing business needs
